Please advice me on how to approach the operation and recovery process

Hey everyone, so like I mentioned previously, I am finally ready to get implanted and leave all this ED bullshit behind me. I emailed Dr Ralph's office and was told the next available dates are in February. However, I have some questions on how the procedure and recovery goes and I'd appreciate if someone answers.

Firstly, I know there is a mandatory revision visit a week after the surgery, so the doc can check if everything is fine. I am wondering if I should stay in London for the whole week, so I can immediately go to the clinic if something goes wrong with the implant, or choose the option of flying home immediately after the operation and then flying back for a revision a week later. This decision would be affected by my condition after the operation, so I'd like to ask - would I be bed - bound after getting it done, or would I be able to walk and move freely?

Another question - after the operation, I know I would have to cycle and use a penis pump in order to increase size and prevent shrinkage - is there a way I can somehow hide this if I live with others. I am currently at university and live with a roommate, so I am wondering if he will notice if I spend too long in the bathroom(also, I don't know if the cycling or the pump make a noise). If the cycling is too noticeable, I am going to move to a single room(however, I don't want this, because it will be lonely for me)

Also what implant type should I choose? My size is 17 cm erect, and I've heard good things about the Titan and the AMS(I don't want the malleable ones) - does the model play a big difference?

I'd like to weigh in on one issue.

I don't believe it's necessary to use a pump after surgery to maintain size.
If you are sized correctly and have no pre-existing conditions like Peyronies, you shouldn't lose anything and could actually gain a bit. I picked up a cm, but who's measuring lol.

I'd let the doc dictate what model to get.

I think you can cycle discretely.

Agree with the above. I didn’t use a VED postop. Only dedicated and consistent daily cycling commencing at 6 weeks. I was partially inflated those first 6 weeks. Very satisfied with the results. Length somewhat longer (1 cm+) and larger girth.

Regarding sizing, you will not choose. Your doctor will, based on very precise measurements taken during surgery of your penis, both the part that shows (corpus cavernosum) and the interior part, in your body (the crus). You have no way of knowing now what these combined lengths will be. Your doctor is well mentioned here. He’ll know what size is best for optimizing your results.

When you say returning fo your doctor for a “revision”, i think you mean “follow up consultation”. Your doctor, not us, has the answer to this. Personally, i never saw my doctor again, except virtually via video, after my surgery. By then, everything was good so mostly that call was just a go-ahead to commence cycling. That occurred 6 weeks after surgery.

Congrats on making the decision to move forward.
Immediately following the surgery you'll be sore, but able to move around although at a slower pace. Flying might be rough depending on how far and how long. Check with your doctor, maybe he does online follow ups so you won't need to fly back. Not sure of his schedule, but my first follow up was at 2 weeks.
Aftercare cycling can be done without a VED/pump. I never used one. Cycling is simply inflating and deflating your new penis every day for a while. Your doctor may have recommendations for how long. Most try at least 30 minutes to an hour once a day. It'll make you sore/hurt at first, but it does get better.
As far as which model, your doctor can advise you as which one would work best for your situation. Both the Coloplast and AMS design is pretty similar.

1. Depends on the type of surgery approach, ask your surgeon if its infrapubic or penoscrotal. From what I've seen on this forum penoscrotal approach is a much longer recovery time compared to infrapubic. I got the penoscrotal approach and was pretty much stuck in bed for a week. Personally I don't think I couldve flown in my first week after surgery. If its infrapubic you may be ok to fly but I don't have experience here.
2. Im a young dude who got implanted 2 months ago. The excuse I told all my friends was that I had a cyst on my testicle that needed to be removed. There is no way you can hide the fact you got surgery, this excuse I found was the best. Everyone seemed to understand immediately. You can tell ur roomates that as part of the recovery of ur cyst removal u need to take longer baths. Thats what i did and its worked like a charm. Personally I never used a penis pump and everythings been ok.
3. In my honest opinion, get the AMS LGX. Its the only implant that expands in length and girth. You're a young dude so your tissues will stretch and expand over time resulting in the biggest possible dick. I got the LGX too

I'll throw in if you don't use a VED for the first six months and your size is not increasing, it's certainly not too late. You could probably wait a whole year if you had to.

So maybe, if it's impossible to hide the fact I had surgery, it's best to just get a single room for a semester to spare myself the troubles? I really want my recovery to go as smoothly as possible, so I can cycle in the peace of my room and also don't have to explain and lie that I've had a ball surgery to anyone - I don't want any rumours flying around. Also, I don't know the most common type of surgery Ralph does - if someone has any knowledge here, maybe they could chime in. Also, if I am bed - bound and hard to move myself around, it will be best to just book a stay in London for a week(however much costlier that may be ( ).

I think the reality is if you just had a penile implant, which is an extremely major and important change to a rather important body part of yours, having privacy in your recovery would be very much preferred and worth it.

I agree with the other nice men here saying it's probably not required, and you could cycle when you shower or during bathroom breaks and there's a good chance your recovery is successful, but the convenience of privacy would be hard to turn down if it is a reasonable option.

I can’t say this often enough: no two guys are exactly alike.

I had mine installed infrapubically. Got up at 4, left the house about 4:45 am for a 6 am checkin. In hospital gown, vitals taken, iv started, and sign all the forms. I was in the operating room by 7:30, recovery by 9:30, and discharged just shy of 11 am. Stopped for lunch at a drive-thru (Chik-Fil-A) and was home by 12:30. It was a little over 60 miles, about an hour, to/from hospital.

Could I have gotten thru security and boarded a commercial flight that day? Probably. I’m glad I didn’t have to.

The day after surgery I drove 90 miles to pick up son at college and drove 90 miles back. No problem.

Two days after that I drove myself 60 miles to Austin to see doctor and get drain removed, then drove myself back home. They told me to start cycling but I was pretty cautious at first…bulb was very hard, I was very bruised and sore, and I had this constant worry that I’d pump it up but not be able to find deflate button amidst the swelling.

You don’t need extra privacy to cycle. You can pump it up in about the length of time you’d need to urinate.

It helps some guys but you don’t need a jock or compression underwear. I have not worn underwear since I joined the Army in 1985. I didn’t start after implant surgery.

For me it was very much like an uncomplicated hernia repair.

I did not use a VED. It took about a year but yes, eventually all my length came back. (Within 1/4 cm)

I went into this expecting uneventful. I got uneventful. Had there been complications, I was prepared to deal with them as they presented themselves. I did not choose to worry myself about shit which probably won’t happen.
