I bought Separatec underwears, prepared elastic bands of other underwears and bought one jockstrap (probably won't use that).
I can visualise how to point it upwards. But I don't know when I should start. There will be dressings first couple of days. So I assume, I'm gonna start after the dressings are removed.
I'll be flying from the other side of the planet (just to have this surgery in Atlanta). Which means, I'll be alone in a hotel room for two weeks. Should I point it upwards most of the time? Or not?
My other question is about baby socks. When should I wear them? Most of the time (including when I'm sleeping)? Or only when I wear briefs? Just to lessen friction in my underwear?
Thanks everyone for answering my previous questions in other threads. I think these two questions are my last questions in terms of pre-op preparation.

Re: Pointing Upwards
Wear the baby socks if your penis head gets chafed from your clothing. My foreskin covered most of my penis head so I never got chafed. Took the socks back to the store unopened for a refund. My dr said to keep my penis up as soon as possible. Scar tissue will start to form around the base literally as soon as your out of surgery.
I started with two washcloths rolled up between my penis & my sweat pants. That didn't work very well. Next I wore my normal underwear. I put on a jock strap with one washcloth inside it. Between my underwear & the jock strap. I normally wear suspenders under my shirt. I bought a set that used clamps to attach with. I attached the back to my sweat pants waist band. Then the front I attached to the waist band of my underwear, jock strap & sweat pants. I kept the suspenders pulled up kind of tight. This all was very effective at keeping me vertical. At my 30 day checkup, my dr said my penis angle was about as high as was possible. But he did say I could stop keeping it vertical because enough scar tissue was already formed to keep it naturally up.
My dressings were taken off & catheter was removed the day after surgery. In my case, the catheter caused some bladder cramping for 1 or 2 days after surgery. Not a common occurrence but it can happen. My dr said to keep my penis vertical as much as possible right after surgery. Basically that started on day 2. These steps are part of your recovery. Your dr should give you a list of things to do & at what day to start doing them. I suggest to make these things your job. Helps to keep your mind busy. Yes, your penis & sack is going to look like a wild animal got ahold of you. It goes away.
In case you're curious. Yes, peeing was an event to behold. Undo the suspenders, drop my pants. With a pumped up penis I had to place a hand on the wall & lean over the toilet guiding with my other hand. It took a few times to figure out where my stream was going to be. But it became fairly predictable. We were at out vacation home which has a ceramic tile floor. I kept a couple of paper towels on the floor to the side. If I saw any stray drops? I just used my toe to wipe them up. Never more than 2 or 3 drops. I did have a plastic urinal. Didn't use it. Just seemed like more hassle to use it with my pants down. Peeing into a shower or a bathtub is a viable option.
Be adaptable to your needs. They can change daily as you recover. Lots of good suggestions here. But I found that I didn't need about half of them.

Re: Pointing Upwards
Follow your doctors orders about when to start pointing it up. I never did that. Pretty much pointed straight out for the first few weeks, then back to how it always was down my left leg.
The kids sock is only needed if your penis is very sensitive or achy. Cut the elastic off. I only used one when dressed. For sleeping I found satin boxers to be quite comfortable. No tangling up in regular underwear.
Two weeks in a hotel room? Hope they have room service. Best of luck.

Any doctor that says it should not be pointed up is wrong. 99% of them say to do that, it's just the length of time they say to do it that seems to vary. My doctor's written instructions said 4 weeks, but at 2-3/4 weeks he said it wasn't necessary anymore. Despite that, I am staying pointed up for at least a month.

I bought a couple of jock straps with a 4” waistband and wore it a little low on my hips and used the band pin my penis to my abdomen. I did this day and night for 4+ weeks. The jock comfortably supported my scrotum and my glans just peeked up over the top edge and I covered it with a baby sock.
