Hey Scooter,
I got my implant about 3 weeks before my 69th birthday. I didn’t know about implants until I had a visit with the uro that did my surgery. The reason for visiting him was to increase the dosage of my quadmix script. Used it for about12 years before the results weren’t as dependable. My reaction to an implant suggestion was, “That seems a little extreme to me.” So for about a year I used the creased quadmix dosage and got tired of trying to beat off with a limp dick.
If you are not 100% sure you are ready, then wait. This surgery is irreversible, so there is no going back. If you haven’t tried the injectable solution, I would suggest that first, then you will know you have tried everything. Peace of mind…priceless.
You can always reschedule surgery if you find the injectables are not for you. I wish you the best with whatever decision you make. Just be confident that you are making the best decision for you. This one is not one to be pressured in to.
All the best to you!

Imho, I say do it BECAUSE your young. If it's in your mind and you got a really nice girl, last thing you'd want to worry about is going soft. It will take a year of optimization but I'd be so much more confident.

Honestly, the best natural erection can't out do being able to fuck after you've cum once. Any issues with a girl of having an implant will be gone once you can keep pounding for hours and she's cum several + times...

Had I known an implant was an option for me in my 30s I would've done it... BUT make sure you go to a high volume doc! Most urologists don't get it... ie size optimization, tubing, etc.

Just my thoughts

I am in the same shoes although I am 9 years older. For me the real issues started 6 years ago.
For me now is the time. The last years u have avoided several sexual encounters.
Maybe wait 1 or 2 years till you're totally confident with your decision. But don't wait like me 6 or 7 years

Forgive me but I'm going against the flow a little. If with 10 mg of Cialis, you can have a fairly satisfactory erection, perhaps it is time to go to an adrologist to find the correct dose to have a better erection.
The medicines on the market serve to increase the flow of blood to the penis and therefore it is right for you. you just need to find the right dose.
however, it would be different if the problem was the opposite, i.e. venous leakage. in that case, even if you take medicines that bring more blood to the penis, if the venous leak is severe then the medicines are of little or no use.
so my advice is to contact a doctor who can find the right dose for you.
remember that the implant is the last solution and is irreversible. the system has many advantages but has just as many defects.

Mark1974 wrote:37 is young. I was probably around your level of function around your age, maybe a bit better and I had the opposite problem (venous leak), but I know my body wasn't at the point where an implant was appropriate.

I think I reached that stage around 45. I'll be turning 50 this year and hope to get the surgery

I would wait a few more years. There will be revisions, scarring, tissue erosion and possible tunica degradation as a result, but at a certain point it is all worth it.

I would probably wait until I was at least 40

I am with Mark on this one.

37 is pretty young.
Simply put, you WILL need probably 3-4 replacements during your remaining years.

BUT, if you are in a financial position(or insurance) to replace this regularly I would move on the implant.
Tough, tough call.

I remember myself at 37 before my Prostatamy .
I still had a voracious sexual appetite and the thought of not performing would have been soul crushing.

Maybe try injections for a while and see how that goes.
It's just that you're not even middle age yet.

This is a hard one to give a concrete answer to.
Good luck.

I am in almost the same situation. Read my post: viewtopic.php?f=6&t=23619

My thoughts: If the implant would be without a risk of permanent revisions... I'd do it immediately. But since so many people struggle with multiple revisions and bad outcome - I still hestitate.

Not sure where you are finding all this misinformation about "multiple revisions and bad outcomes". An implant surgery has a failure rate of less than 3%. If you're reading posts on Redditt, Facebook and other social media sites remember people are more likely to post complaints rather than successes. There are thousands of men out in the world who have an implant and have never said anything about it. Think about it, how many of your close friends and family members are you going to tell about your lack of erections? But if you have the surgery and it gets screwed up you'll probably be very vocal, somewhere.
An implant should last 10-15 years. If engaging in sexual activity is difficult due to other methods not working are you going to give up sex because of it? If you're in your prime years, don't do that to yourself.

Scooter, read my surgery update from 1/8. Reach out if you have any questions. I wish I had done this in my 40's when the first signs of ED cast their shadow on me.

Thanks for everyone’s advice.
I have tried the injections. Once when the doctor used it for my ultrasound. It was the combination of realizing how good my erections could be from the injection and an embarrassing experience with a bombshell of a woman. After that, is when I scheduled the surgery. I want to be able to have spontaneous sex and not have to worry about shooting up.
I pushed back my surgery in 5 weeks. In the meantime my primary doctor suggested I speak to a vein doctor. This will be my last effort before I truly commit.
Few questions for those with the implant:
Can you pump it up with one hand?
I read the tips of the implant can be noticed/felt. Is that true?
Does an implant erection feel different than a natural one? I’d imagine a natural blood filled erection feels different. Also, do you get aroused when its pumped up? For example, when I get an “erection” I get aroused.

You can pump one handed but you can get firmer with 2 hands. Depends on how hard you want it. One hand is plenty hard for sex, my wife prefers doggy at one handed hardness, missionary at 90% maxed and cowgirl at 100.

It does feel different, not worse just much harder.

You can feel the tips of the implant, less so if your aroused, my glands still fill with blood like normal, some folks with ED have blood flow issues to the glands. You should have the same glands engorgement pre and post implant.

I still get plenty aroused and can feel blood filling my dick, when i look at it its like 40% shaft chub with raging glands/ glands just like pre op. Shaft doesnt fill up like pre op, but i do still have some blood flow, not sure if that will go away the longer the implant is in there. The nicest part is when you get aroused your girl can give you a slow handy while your pumping, feels amazing. If get aroused and just want to rub one out, pumping up feels great when aroused.
