Looking for a surgeon in San Francisco

Postby nicolai1812 » Thu Feb 01, 2024 10:33 pm

I'm 75 and have had ED for many years. I can get hard by myself while watching porn and taking a viagra and wearing a cock ring but lose it immediately if I stop stroking. I never get spontaneous erections and never get even a little hard when with someone. This has been going on for many many years. I'm single and gay and it's made me withdrawn in terms of meeting people and very self conscious. I'd like an experienced doc nearby in case of complications. I'm very nervous about this. I've a regular urologist who does implants but I don't know how frequently and experienced he is although he's in his 70s.

Dr Karpman is right there and an experienced high volume implanter. I would check him out if I were you. I personally didn’t get the best vibes from him but I think it was because I already had at the time a serious infection from an implant and he didn’t want anything to do with me.

I don't drive and concerned about having a surgeon closer but can't find information about S.F. docs. My urologist is good and very experienced in general but don't know how often he does implants and his track record. I'm shy about asking friends for rides as I'm still I guess embarrassed to tell anyone I need this.

Karpman I think is the most well known in the bay area, but he's in the south bay. Like Tmansdorfer said, I didn't get a great vibe from his staff, they were rude and inattentive. After reading some reviews, I could tell he and I weren't going to hit it off.

If you're in SF, can't drive and don't know where to start, you're very limited. If you trust the uro that you have a relationship with, it sounds like he may be your best bet. Bottom line is you're going to go from no erections to unlimited, on demand erections. Given your circumstance I would just look for competent and accessible. Ask your doc the questions you need answered, and then ask him for the name of a couple more local uros that he would use if he had to have an IPP.

Hi Nicolai,

Please consider flying down to Los Angeles and consulting my Doctor.( In Profile bio.)
Great guy, great staff.

I couldn't be happier with the job that job he did for me.
Flying down here from S.F. is only 45 minutes to l.A., and once you've arrived you could
grab to a lift to your destination with either UBER, bus or taxi. There are many hotels around
downtown L.A. you could stay at during your consultation or procedure that are very close to
USC-Keck.
You could set this up very easily thru your phone either thru the UBER or Lyft app.Your ride
would be waiting for you when you arrived.

That way, no-one is aware of anything. ;)

Best wishes.

I used Karpman and had a good experience. I thought his staff was friendly and helpful. Karpman's personality reminds me of a salesman. Very outgoing and boisterous. Like the guy who gives a smile and a big handshake when he's first introduced to you. I've got more of an engineer, nerd, introvert personality myself, but his style didn't bug me or anything. He seemed confident and straight forward. My healing was on the slow side of average, but he felt competent and reassuring in our follow-up meetings.

I'm approaching two years implanted and I am 100% satisfied.

Check out DR. Tom Lue at UCSF. He does them. I read a very positive review on this site. He is a big name in West Coast Urology. I went to UCSF for my radical prostatectomy and later injection therapy.

karpman is the best in the bay area. remember, when choosing a surgeon, personality is really not that important...you just want someone who is absolutely on the top of their game when they are cutting you....karpman is super experienced
