Hello Everyone,
I am so glad to have finally joined the community! I found this forum a few months ago and have been following the discussions by lurking, but finally decided to join I am trying to keep a sense of humor about all this ,but its really not all that funny !
My story is similar to others. I have had a few bouts of ED since I was 18 years old, but I think the causes were more related to excessive drinking. This did tone down my college years a bit, but things were mostly good up until I turned 38.(married at 31) At this point I worked up enough nerve to ask my doctor about it. He prescribed Cialis 5mg and things were great! After a year or so I noticed the 20mg size pills were not much more money so I got a prescription for those and started cutting them in half to 10mg. I took them a few times a week and I was always ready! Things were great. Fast forward over the next 4 years I progressed up to needing a 20mg pill to "perform". Things were still going along great until... the Cialis stopped working. Tried Viagra which worked great for about three months then nothing. Levitra did nothing at all.
At this point I decided to go see a Urologist. He did some tests and found out I had low Test (279). Tried Testim Gel and did not raise much at all. Went to Test injections and the pills started working again-yahoo This worked for another year or so then it stopped working-WTF. Transitioned to the Testosterone implant pellets for the low-T but the pills effectiveness started tapering off again after awhile...
I talked the Uro into prescribing Tri-mix and I was at least able once again. But I find the shots to really hamper the frequency. Way too much planning. I can take the pain but it just does not feel all that natural. No more spontaneous encounters. No more morning sex as the residual effects last at least an hour to an hour and a half.
So here I am at almost 45 years old considering if I should be having an implant installed. I really think this is starting to strain my 14 year marriage. I am leaning in that direction because I need a "cure" for this issue. It is really bothering me and I feel like I need to put this behind me if that is at all possible...
I am located in the southern New England area...close to Boston or New York. Anybody know of any great surgeons in the area for this besides Dr. Eid in New York? (his office does not accept my United Healthcare insurance)
Looking forward to some good discussions!
Bob

Welcome, Bob! There are a lot of lurkers (and even members) that would find a lot of support and encouragement if they'd simply post something or stop by the chat room. My situation isn't as severe as yours, but the guys here are great at giving feedback, suggestions, and a listening ear. A friend of mine says that Dr.Eid is one of the best implant guys in your area, but that's something you'll have to check out.
60's. Married. Occasional ED offset by a variety of methods (VED pumping, foreskin restoration, edging) with Cialis and/or pills sometimes for sex.

Bob,
I'm in CT. where are you? anyway, there are many other really good docs at the implant thing. Dr. Natan Bar-chama at Mt. Sinai (NYC) is regarded as an artist in this stuff.
Dr. Michael Werner in Purchase, NY is an ED specialist - it's all he does. He is fantastic. If you don't have the insurance, there's no need to give up hope. There are lots of good docs around Boston and NYC

Paul,
I am in southern RI about 15 mins from Ct border. I have been going to the Mens Health Center at Miriam Hospital. They specialize in ED treatment. They are very busy. It just seems like their focus is more on lifestyle modification than surgery. Not that this is a bad thing but it seems like they are reluctant to progress toward that end result. I have an appointment in a couple of weeks , so I will bring it up. Know of any docs in RI or Boston areas?

Re: New Member
Hi Bob and welcome. I also have ED due to high blood pressure and type II diabetes. I am 34 now and started having trouble in my mid-20s. The pills didn't work for me either. There seems to be a lower level of success with the pills in those with diabetes. I am using a vacuum erection device, aka VED, aka penis pump, for my treatment for a couple of years now. They are good for getting the blood to flow.

Bob, Just jumping in to welcome you. Yest the ED stuff is not funny in any way. When you get a chance you should jump in the chat room and meet some of the guys. We chat about just about anything you can think of and many time he laugh out loud while typing. This is a great group of guys and many of us have become friends.

If anyone knows of any more recommended implant surgeons in the New England area please let me know.
Paul, thanks for the info on Dr. Munnariz...it looks like he does take United Health! I was wondering if anyone has heard of Dr. Mark Sigman. He works at the Mens's Heath Center as. Surgeon, but I have not been able to get much info about him...
Thanks,
Bob
