Implant vs Injections vs Embolization

Postby 25yearsold » Sat Feb 03, 2024 8:47 am

It seems my journey with pills came to an end. With 5 mg daily cialis+100 mg viagra, I couldnt get a satisfactory erection for intercourse.

I suffer from Ed for a long time (7-8 years), but it is still hard to cope with, considering i thought i found a stable regimen (cialis+viagra combo) to have sex. Ed progressed again and pills are completely unreliable now unfortunately.

I know i will have to get an implant eventually, but trying to postpone it as much as possible (to my early 40s if possible?)

I know ED follows a different prognosis in each individual, but wondering anyone with young venous leak ED type ED managed to postpone their implant for 5-10 years with injections after pills became completely unreliable?

I also had dorsal vein embolization 5 years ago, effects were subtle and faded with time, but now when i look retrospectively, i believe it gave me couple years to delay the implant. I am thinking giving it another try if it is technically possible. Anyone had vein embolization more than once? And how was the outcome?

I know a lot of young and youngish ppl here like their implant and I believe it is a lifesaver (I would have been suicidal if there were no such option exist) when the need arises, but i am just not ready for irreversible surgery and i am scared too much from an infection. I want to try literally everything before going that way. Any suggestions are welcomed.

There has been some on here that used injections regularly for 10 years or more and still working. I wasn’t so lucky. I used pills for 10 years then seemingly overnight they began to diminish functioning. Injections worked great…. Sometimes too good but my VL was progressing rapidly at this point and I was doubling the units I used about every month or so, it was a never ending battle trying to get the proper amount… too little it faded during sex. Too much and I was up til 3-4 am eating Sudafed. Definitely time to try injections to see how long you can use them… when that fails it’s to the point you would have little choice but an implant. You will know when it’s the right time for you.

I'm surprised you got an embolism, I thought they were no longer done. I"d recommend talking to a few people on this forum about that.

The bonus of injections over pills for me is, for the first time in my life I had complete control over my erection, it's weird to think back about how I used to worry about my erections so much.

The disadvantage is the prep work and lack of spontaneity. Injections have to be done properly and hygienically, following a ritual - choose where to inject, swab with alcohol, swab the top of the bottle, take the needle out, don't let it touch anything, insert into bottle and suck out the trimix, make sure there's no bubbles, feel for veins to avoid, insert into skin slowly, inject slowly, remove slowly, rub penis to mix it in, place pressure on injection point for 1-2 mins, clean up and put used syringe in special canister.

This stuff is okay for me because I'm married. Although the 7-10 minutes required is a mood dampener.

But I've done it 2 years now, no problems.

My wisdom on injections, having used them for about 6 years and now with an implant, is that they are a great "bandaid" that can last for quite awhile but during that time one should be looking at the final, permanent option being the implant. Use the time on injections to fully educate yourself on implants. Research all that is possible and come up with a plan that can be implemented when you begin to feel dissatisfaction, for whatever reason, with injections.
The good thing about using injections before the implant is that when and if they fail, you have no doubt about going the implant route.

Pills didn't work well. Trimix worked good for 3 years, then only fair for following 3 years but need a cock ring in conjunction.
Implant 12/6/2023 Dr. Eid
Coloplast Titan 20 cm with right side trimmed to 19 cm. No RTE. Classic pump.
