Maybe headed to revision at 2.5 years

Postby wolfpacker » Fri Feb 09, 2024 7:07 pm

Lately I've been have issues with auto-inflation, as in no matter how much I forcibly deflate my implant, it fills back up to uncomfortably full. My original implant, coloplast Titan, was with Dr Eid in summer 2021. I am with a different doctor now, and she has ordered a CT scan first, and then we will talk about a revision.

I could probably live with the auto inflation, but Ive seen it said many times (by Dr Eid and Dr Perito) that you need to be 100% deflated at all times lest you incur tissue atrophy.

I've recorded a video of the sound my reservoir makes as soon as I'm done squeezing the penis to deflate - at around the 5 second mark in this video, I let go of my penis (after squeezing both the penis and the deflate valve) and you can hear the squeaking sound of fluid rushing from the reservoir back into my cylinders, indicating the pump valve is not correctly blocking the flow of liquid. In this video my phone microphone is hovering above my reservoir. Apologies for the views of my hairy white chicken legs!

It might be the fog of memory, but I think I once read that a member had a similar problem and he would give it a pump right after deflating to reset the valve. I guess it wouldn't hurt to try.

If your implant is partially inflated during the day, it will put pressure inside your tissue and cause the tissue to atrophy away

I think you have a misunderstanding of whatever it is you claim Perito or Eid have “said many times”. It’s just not true. Firstly, you can never be 100% deflated, secondly many men inflate to alleviate dog ears, and thirdly many men just like the feeling of some inflation. How does this cause atrophy?

Please link us to this claim you’re making where Perito and Eid have given this instruction. Should be easy to find.

If you kept it 100% inflated at all times I might worry. When I was looking at a Titan with a different doctor (before I had my LGX installed) I specifically asked the surgeon if there was a downside to keeping a little fluid in the cylinders when not in use to minimize the dog ear effect I had heard a lot of Titan recipients complain about.

He said no, there was no risk, and he had a number of patients who did just that although he wasn’t convinced it got rid of the dog ears, but that it did show a bit when a guy was wearing gym shorts or sweats.

It’s not like priapism. The corpora cavernosa are gone. Yes you still want good blood flow in the rest of your dick. But unless you’re autoinflating to the 100% I can’t stand another pump it hurts level (highly unlikely) I don’t think auto inflate is a valid reason for a revision.

What they told me to do about it (LGX) was deflate fully then give the bulb one squeeze to lock out the pump. I still look flaccid and no fluid will move until I either deflate again or start squeezing the bulb.

I can second his claim, Eid told me the same. I guess he highlights this especially for younger guys, because we will live with the implant for many decades and maybe need to be a bit more cautious.

Sorry to hear about your issues Wolfpacker. Hope you can get a solution quickly

7 weeks out of surgery.

I am keeping my AMS 700 LGX about 75% inflated with the idea that scar tissue is forming now and for several months -- and I don't want it to restrict expansion during inflation.

"If your implant is partially inflated during the day, it will put pressure inside your tissue and cause the tissue to atrophy away."

I don't understand how keeping inflation could result in tissue atrophy. By comparison, malleable implants are fully "inflated" 24/7 -- I've never heard that this causes tissue atrophy. If it did, it would definitely be a factor against malleables.

Again, please provide links to references, Youtube vids, etc. Thanks!
