I divorced a year ago and, for four years prior, had no need for any ED drugs.
Now that I'm dating, I got a prescription for Viagra. It works, and the erection is long and hard, but not as much so as when I was in my 20's. I guess that's not going to happen.
I can maintain an erection during foreplay, and oral. When it comes time for penetration, I often lose it. I suspect that may in part be from performance anxiety.
I read on another forum about injections, and that brought me here. I'm wondering, though, if injections are any better than Viagra, or if Cialis is any better than Viagra. What appealed to me about injections were the comments that erections lasted even after ejaculation, and that erections were very hard. Having read several threads in the Injections forum, I don't know if any of that is true.
Does anyone here have experience with all three he'd be willing to share?
Injection, Cialis or stick with Viagra?

Don,
Your story sounds a lot like mine. No ED issues till a painful split. I had a rough time of it & lost ALL function. After many months I got my night erections back but lost all day wood, etc. Went to Dr & started the typical circus of orals - they did nothing for me and things worsened when I failed to perform after taking them & trying to start new encounters. Had to go through 2 Dr's but Doc 3 took me straight to injections ( prostaglandin 20 mcg ) I have not been in a relationship yet to try it but just injecting privately at home to adjust dose I can tell you its Head n shoulders superior to orals ( least for me). I mean no 1 hr wait, no guessing if a meal will slow the pill down, no failed erection. For most , once you drop that plunger you will see tumescence without rigidity in about 2 minutes followed by a full hardon in about 10 minutes. With higher doses you can regain even after a climax. I masterbated to orgasm once early on 4 times over a couple of hours just to see if I could and that's not shabby at 53.

Thanks for the reply, Truck. Sounds like I should really look into injections.
Just to be clear, the ED problems I've been having didn't start with the divorce. They go back a few years earlier. It's just that sex with her stopped in 2009.
I can still get hard without Viagra, and if I'm in the mood I can get pretty hard. I haven't tried going without Viagra with a woman, as I think that and the anxiety would result in no performance at all.

Re: Injection, Cialis or stick with Viagra?
Hi Don,
I too used to take the oral meds in my early 50ties. My ED progressed to the point where the orals nolonger worked.
I have now been injecting successfully for > 15 years. I inject Edex (alprostadil). My provider is the VA and they provide Edex.
I have been with FT for ~ 3 years. Few people on this website use the orals and most inject. It is well know the oral meds are much less effective than the injected meds. The injected med of choice on here is trimix. The vast majority of men are very satisfied with Trimix. Depending upon your insurance, either of alprostadil or trimix will work very well for you. If you do not have insurance coverage, you'll want to use trimix. Edex (alprostadil) is very expensive IF you have to pay for it!
Some people have experienced pain when injecting. It has been my experience over the years any pain during injecting is either because of using too large a needle or injecting into a flaccid dick. Make sure your dick is at least semi-hard, preferably fully hard. The needle goes into a hard dick very easily w/o pain!. If you have difficulty getting your dick at least semi-hard, get a vacuum pump and use use immediately before injection.
Happy sticking yourself and your partner!!

Oops. Spelled your name wrong, Trucx.
I'd probably be too nervous about the needle and the woman to get hard enough to inject. I've seen others mention using a bit of Viagra to pump up before injecting. I'll ask the urologist about that.
I'd made an appointment with one of those mens clinics, but then cancelled after reading reviews in which people complained about spending $1000 to $2000 and things not working. The place I called sounds less than trustworthy.
I'll be paying out of pocket for a urologist, so I hope it's not too outrageous.

Re: Injection, Cialis or stick with Viagra?
Most docs discourage using both Viagra and injecting. However, since Viagra only generates a semi for me, I often combine the two (actually three because I also take daily Cialis) without any issues.
