For guys getting/considering implants…a conversation at Urology clinic this week

Postby Txagq8 » Fri Feb 16, 2024 2:16 pm

So this past Wednesday I had to go in for a much overdue TRT follow up at the Urology clinic. After my implant I liked the surgeon/staff well enough to go ahead and have them take over all my urology needs.

I saw the PA. He’d been great during my implant recovery. He asked how it was doing now that I’d passed the four year mark. Naturally I told him great, that this site talked me off the ledge the first couple of weeks, that I had done the same for others. I told him how Franktalk had me a lot more knowledgeable about the process since I had it done and wondered if they did revisions.

He said of course they did, and typically the replacement was less complicated than the original surgery. We didn’t get into @what are you gonna put in me next since we are at the limit of the 18 cm LGX + RTEs.

The thing that stands out about this conversation, and the PA agreed 100%: the first 2-3 weeks after surgery, the patient is typically going to think “what the fuck have I done to my junk?” After that, the question becomes “why in the hell didn’t I gave this done 10 (or 20) years ago?”

Guys all think they’ll be different. But invariably, even in a routine, uncomplicated, pain free recovery like I had….this is gonna happen. Be ready for it. Don’t fight it. It’s normal.
Age 68. Physically fit educated red neck in Texas. Very married. 23 cm (18+5) of LGX installed by Dr. Bryan Kansas 12/31/2019. I fought the ED and my wife & I won. I’m either full of shit or sound advice. You decide which.

I sure wish I had found Frank Talk before my implant. Maybe. I went in totally unknowing what others experienced, the good, the bad, the PAIN. All I knew is this was the way to enable erections again after all other methods failed. With over 4 years of having the implant it's something I wish I had found out about it sooner and had it done sooner.
Yup, we all gonna hit the floppy penis one day. Don't fight it!

Couldnt agree more, when you read recovery stories on ft that seems to be a very common scenario, especially after you use your new toy for a few months, crazy good.

While I did not have those feelings at all. I was delighted. If it wasn't for being prepared with all the info I absorbed in Franktalk I might have reacted differently.

I do see some guys newly implanted worried about all the size loss blah blah, but I can't help think what I have read over and over here. Maybe they did not read and absorb or just that uncertainty and fear is so deep.

I was 110% ready and I already know 10 years or more ago I was ready for an implant.

Maybe my concerns will rear their head when I have to cycle etc. Hopefully, FT has preped me for that too.
