my doctor said cycling doesn't work
Re: my doctor said cycling doesn't work
67years,fighting ed for over twenty years. A sever break, vit E, pataba, Viagra, massage Ved cilas, and I'm tired- throwing in the towel, Op for implant Mar 18, 2021 AMS LGX 18 x12 + 1 3cm RTE, gained girth and length, very glad I took the hard step.
Re: my doctor said cycling doesn't work
The folks testifying before have pretty much said it all. Cycling is key. It works.
You know how abortion activists all say men ought to keep quiet in the debate since no man has a uterus? Thus is the same deal. A female urological surgeon needs to shut her trap since she doesn’t have a dick. Actually, a trained doctor ought to know better. There were good & valid reasons I used Tricare instead of having mine done by VA.
Seriously. I’ve got 23 cm of implant in me compared to the original poster’s 24. I understand anatomical differences, but in general you would expect (and see) similar outcomes. A month, 6 weeks after surgery I was looking at maybe 4 3/4”, after having an officially measured 6.85” before surgery. 3 years and 5 months later, I go into the bathroom with a ruler and it’s 17.3 cm, or 6.81”.
Most of that came back between month 6 and month 12. It was almost like all at once my old (I was 63) tissues said “oh, shit, we almost forgot how to stretch” and finally did so.
My doctor told me that I would be bigger flaccid but not to expect to be bigger erect. That an implant wasn’t a way to get a larger penis. The final erect outcome would be what originally had, or the difference would be so small as to be insignificant. However, he did say to get it back I would have to cycle.
He also had me pull down on the bulb for several weeks, as it tried to pull up in my nutsack like I’d just jumped into a tub of ice cold water. That worked too.

Age 68. Physically fit educated red neck in Texas. Very married. 23 cm (18+5) of LGX installed by Dr. Bryan Kansas 12/31/2019. I fought the ED and my wife & I won. I’m either full of shit or sound advice. You decide which.

I have had swelling issues, and my pump is riding very high. She said to just leave the pump as is, and live with it. She said I could still try to pull the pump down, but it may not work.
The biggest take away for me was, I told her I couldn't cycle the implant because of the swelling and how would it hurt me in the long run. She said cycling is just to help you learn how to inflate and deflate. She said there is absolutely, 100% no increase in girth or length, no matter how much you cycle. I think I am 4 inches soft, so that's all I will ever have according to her. My girth actually DECREASES when I inflate. I am 6 inches deflated, and it decreases to 5.5 inches when inflated, because everything tightens up and becomes thinner. I'm very confused. I really thought that I might get back to 5 inches or so if I aggressively cycled every day.
I have the coloplast titan
Eric, I think we have same doctor at VA, her name is Malik.
I was told the exact same thing. Pre ED I was only 5.5 inches, after surgery I am 3" flacid and 3.25 pumped. I lost over 2 inches. It's only been 5 weeks since my surgery. And I have only been cycling for just over a week and praying there will be an increase.
I have not had sex yet but she told me after next visit which is next week. She keeps telling me it won't get any bigger. I am not sure there is enough there to have sex.
Can I expect any increase? If so how much?
Eric, as you can see I know your pain. Fyi, I also have a titan coloplast.

Is this Dr. Rena Malik with all the videos on ED???? I know she was at University of Maryland and hence Baltimore VA.
I would seek out another opinion, even through the VA as there are a lot of medical centers that are affiliated with a VA that have Urologists that do a lot of implants. There's a lot of evidence for cycling for implants. My doctor, Dr Patel, describes the implant as a tissue expander similar to what is used for reconstructive surgery for other parts of the body. He was very keen on the importance of cycling and using an external vacuum initiallyy. But if it was undersized from the beginning or you have Peyronie's or other scarring, that may be separate issue. Check out all the videos on youtube esp those from Dr. Clavell
Radical Prostatectomy in 2015; failed pills, straight to Coloplast Titan in 2019 by Dr. Valenzuela in NYC, Replaced with AMS 700 CX in 2022 by Dr. Darshan Patel in San Diego, CA. Wish I jumped to an implant even before prostate cancer!

Re: my doctor said cycling doesn't work
Put her in a room with Drs. Kramer, Eid, Perito, and Clavell and watch the reaction she’d get. Hypotheticsl, i know, but im calling absolute bullshit on what she told you.
I’M definitely bigger at one year than i was at 1 month, and i STILL am cycling.
Pay her no mind and pump that thing up as hard as you can, for as long as you can stand it.
There’s only a few hundred of us here that would agree.

Man Eric, I can't believe she told you that cycling wouldn't help you gain back and it's not necessary. I know a lot of guys on here went to high volume surgeons because of what you have ran into with the VA. I didn't want to go to the VA for that reason, but I did go to the big military hospital here in San Antonio, Texas, Brooke Army Medical Center (BAMC) which is know all over the world for their burn center and putting soldiers back together with prosthetic legs, arms and hands.
I felt really comfortable with my urologist doctors at BAMC and trusted them and they did a fantastic job. I'm 2 years out from surgery and it was the best decision I've made to get my sex life back.
My doctor told me to cycle twice a day for 20 minutes in the shower after I got cleared to inflate and deflate at the 6 week mark. This is not only to gain length back but to prevent the surgical capsule from forming too small around the implants. When I first started cycling, I was only around 5 to to 5.5 inches and now I'm at 6.25 inches and girth at 5 inches.
Another thing you need to make sure you do is totally deflate so that the surgical capsule around the reservoir is formed correctly to allow all the fluid to go back into the reservoir when fully deflated.
You've got a lot of good guys guiding you on here, so you're in good hands.
I don't have the same implant as you but I'll help as much as I can.

Thailand is exactly right about the crap that she fed you Keep cycling I still cycle every day in the shower even after 2 years, while I take a shower and while I shave.

Yes, it was Dr. Rena Malik. Yes I had Peyronie's, Before Peyronie's I did have scar tissues (fibrosis).
I will check out his videos. I will cycle as I have nothing to lose.
I am devastated.

Don't loose hope - if you have or had Peyronie's, I would look into tunical expansion or plaque releasing incisions. I had it done and I think it made a big difference in my outcome along with aggressive cycling. But you need (can't stress this enough) to have surgeon who is experienced and understands how to fix your issue. Dr. Clavell describes this with one of his videos - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_nWLCp3 ... clavelluro
62 year old, ED+PD, Coloplast Titan 22 cm no RTE in 2019 with Dr. Irwin Goldstein => failure, now with plaque excision/tunical expansion to Coloplast Titan 26 no RTE in 2022 by Dr. Darshan Patel, now with classic pump 2024
