Downside to not leaving inflated post-op?

Postby monkfroot » Thu Feb 29, 2024 12:00 pm

My Dr. left me inflated at 60% for a week post-op. In a week I see him at 5.5 week mark for my first post-op inflation. He didnt want it any sooner.

Is there a detriment to this versus those whose Drs left the implant inflated for 6 week? Is one old school vs new school? does one method impact ultmate tunica recovery? Is it different for AMS vs Titan (I am on a Titan).

Thanks!

Seems like every doc has their own method. One will leave you inflated for 2 weeks, another doesn't inflate you until the 2 week mark. Not sure the reasoning for the difference but it does not seem to have any effect on the final outcome.
I was left inflated for 5 1/2 weeks. Mainly because it was too painful to deflate me at the 2 week mark when doc wanted to.

I can say I had a difficult implant. 6 hrs surgery due to complications and a cylinder leak. I was inflated for 10 days to 50% then he deflated it. Due to the trama, I don't think 80% would have felt right. I'll ask my doctor cause it's only been 22 days. Perhaps trama is a concern.

We at the UCLH London hospital are inflated overnight then after the drain and catheter is removed we are deflated- then go home on day 2.

After 3 weeks we return for aftercare then begin cycling (if all is well).

I don't know of any pros and cons between all the various ways surgeons do it differently. It seems guys have a difficult or easy recovery no matter what and end up with the same result after cycling.

Does inflation hurt at week 3?

I have no idea. I go for my aftercare appt. 7th March.

My guess is 'based on everything I have read here' is inflation or cycling can be uncomfortable for some time. And, then it's all about using the pump.

I used a VED for more than 2 years prior to the operation, and I am hoping that paid off.
