1. To help my wife gain a better understanding of this process. I'm more of the planner in the family and she's more of the follow my lead type. She's worried and concerned that I may be just doing it for her and needed some info from the doctor on this. I feel she came away with a much better understanding of not just the procedure, but of the mental process that goes into thinking about having this procedure.
2. Get an idea if they have worked with my insurance and the great news is that they have been successful in getting the procedure covered
3. What do I need to do to be a candidate for the surgery...this is the big one, I'm diabetic, and have been working to get it under control lately. We were able to set a target for my A1C before I could get the surgery. The great news is that I'm fairly close. The not so great news is I'm not there yet so it's going to take me at least through the summer before I'm closer to eligible status. GOAL SET!
4. Begin talking about models and types of implants. Being diabetic, they are firmly of the opinion that my best option is going inflatable with the AMS 700 with the antibiotic coating. More research for me to do here to make sure it's the best choice for me when the time comes.
