Is over 200 a year considered a high vollume implant surgeon?

Postby Never_Enough » Mon Apr 22, 2024 3:00 pm

If I ever had an implant it would be through Dr David Ralph in London, and he implants over 200 a year.

Is this considered a high volume implanter?

Thanks,

High enough in my opinion. My doctor was supposed to do 2 per week and the result was almost perfect.
Late twenties. ED since very early twenties. Unable to have sex.
Implanted 20-03-2024 AMS LGX 21+3 cm. Dr Juan Ignacio Martínez Salamanca (Spain).

Dr Ralph has been mentioned a bunch over the years on FT. Do a search and see what pops up… and in my opinion 200 a year would qualify for me. My Dr said around 250 and he did a great job except for placement of the resivour which his excuse was my 20 year prior double hernia with mesh.
59 years old ED started mid 40s pills failed after 10 years. Injections works but diminishing results with pain. Implanted 5-22 Baylor,Scott, and White Dallas.Dr Michael Wierschem, infrapubic Coloplast 20cm and 1cm RTE. Going strong and loving it!

My dr. does over 300 a year he told me it is also a teaching hospital so that may make a difference. Out of all the implants only about 50 a year are MPP's

I think this has been lost with recent posts. The things is you do not need a doctor that does 200, 300, or more a year. The doctors doing those numbers are certainly specialist and good doctors to go to. This large number study has the top group at greater than 31 implants a year. https://www.garber-online.com/pdf/Highe ... ctions.pdf What you want to try to avoid is the lower 0-2 implants a year doctors if you can. The thing is if you look at that study you find a large percentage of implants are done low volume doctors. If I read this correctly over 50% of implants are done by low volume doctors. And even so implanted men report over 90% satisfaction.
Injections failed. Implanted 3-21-18 AMS 700 LGX 21 + 1 RTE 100 cc reservoir 6.5" L 5" G Dr. Kramer.

agree with the previous post. Definition of high volume is probably just avoiding the urologist that does 0-2 implants/month. >200 a year a one of the higher volume surgeons. Dr. Ralph is a very well known Urologist and implant surgeon - many folks on frank talk as well as many scientific publications and videos. He handles a lot of complex cases.
Radical Prostatectomy in 2015; failed pills, straight to Coloplast Titan in 2019 by Dr. Valenzuela in NYC, Replaced with AMS 700 CX in 2022 by Dr. Darshan Patel in San Diego, CA. Wish I jumped to an implant even before prostate cancer!

These numbers 100/200/300/400 implants per year are super inflated, where is the data? To make themselves bigger, every doctor says to do many more implants than he actually does

Thanks guys.

I'm going to see him next month to talk about my options. Pelvic pain hard flaccid getting worse and now making keeping an erection longer than a minute difficult even with stimulation.
