I've posted before, but getting somewhat discouraged. My surgery was 12 days ago, and in the hours following my surgery, my scrotum swelled/filled to the size of a cantaloupe. Then it was a grapefruit, and now it's somewhere between the size of a tennis ball and an orange. It's getting better everyday, and I appreciate that, but it's just hard to imagine it all being gone and being able to begin cyclying.
I see my doctor for my 2-week followup in a few days. He did predict it would be down 50-60% by then, so he's right. I can feel the edges of the pump or the deflate button in there, but there is *no* way I could manipulate it at this point. He left me about 50% inflated and didn't attempt anything the 2nd day after surgery because it would be too painful.
I saw a YouTube video about complications, and the doctor there said he would drain something like this, but my Dr. doesn't think that's a good idea. I do see the risk of infection, more trauma.
Has anyone else had an experience like this? I'd love to hear about it. I realize it's only 12 days, but it's starting to feel really long.
Thanks

DeadlineDave:
I had a very similar experience post surgery. Grapefruit scrotum is a real thing. LOL
It was very uncomfortable, and made deflating or inflating impossible for several weeks, but it did go down on it's own over a few weeks time.
I also had swelling in my penis, just behind the glans. It blew up like a balloon.
I was concerned, and went back to have it checked out, but both issues resolved on their own.
Just follow your doctors recommendations and you'll be fine.

Re: Scrotal swelling/edema.....anyone else?
Thanks, BigDave. That's what I needed to hear and is encouraging. Yes, I have some kind of turkey-neck going on down there.
I was concerned about beginning cycling, but watched a Clavell video where he said to not rush it..... could take up to 4 weeks to be able to start. I'm just under 2 weeks.
If my doctor, Bryan Kansas in Austin, TX, can deflate me a little, I think I could not dwell on it so and go about my business and be more patient. But now, I have to walk slightly bent over in public to conceal my semi. Yesterday at Whole Foods, I decided I didn't care and was sure they had all seen stranger than a creepy old man walking around the store with a boner!
Thanks.

Re: Scrotal swelling/edema.....anyone else?
It took me about 4 weeks before the swelling was mostly resolved but I still have a large edema at the tip of my foreskin. I'm 5 weeks out and I can now find the device, but my surgeon recommends 6 weeks before activating. It's been nice and cold now in Austin so between my Big and Tall XL black T-shirts, sweat pants and a jacket there's no noticeable sign and I can walk around without being noticed .
Born 1956. Peyronies + venous leak. Implanted 12/12/23 Dr. Clavell penoscrotal. Proximal = 10cm, right distal = 12.5cm, left distal = 12cm due to Peyronies. 1 0.5cm RTE on the right. 125CC reservoir filled with 110ml saline. Titan OTR.

Swelling can be horrible at first for some. It will go away. Ice and/or heat may help.

Thanks, all. I'm glad Dr. Clavell thinks six weeks is okay. I see my surgeon Wednesday for a 2-week followup. We'll see what he says then.
I'm in Austin, TX, as well. Would take more than a chubby to really stick out at Whole Foods!

Hi Dave,
I had a similar experience but with a vasectomy back I had back in 1992. I had a ball sack the size of a grapefruit for almost 6 months. It was painful to say the least.
The Doctor said that I must have been allergic to the sutures to tie off the sperm chords. He said that it would eventually go away.
I was very distressed. There were no groups to meet with others in similar situations.
I don't know if this helps, but perhaps it will give you a point of reference.

Re: Scrotal swelling/edema.....anyone else?
I’m also in the grapefruit scrotum club. Not to mention the burnt pig in a blanket shaft club. It ain’t pretty. My walking is best described as waddling like a penguin as I move around the giant swollen junk in my compression shorts.
Glad to hear it gets better! I’m only on Day 5.
I was curious to note it was DeadlineDave and BigDave talking about this. I’m a Dave too! Dave’s must have a propensity for scrotal swelling.

49. Implanted 5/21/2024 at Kaiser SSF. AMS 700 CX 21cm, 3cm RTE. Penoscrotal. Venous leak my whole life. Pills helped, but hated the side effects; worked less as I aged. Skipped injections. Grateful to bionic brotherhood that helped me make this decision.
Re: Scrotal swelling/edema.....anyone else?
Yessir, me too.
Bruised, swollen testicles with a large hematoma and a penile edema that lasted well into the first 6 weeks. The first 21 days was the worst. It will get better, lots of alternating between ice and heat will help. I did find that apx 2500 mg per day of Lysine helped to get the edema under control.
It will get better.

Yes, I’m 5 weeks out and still have significant scrotal swelling. What’s worse is that it isn’t getting better. No improvement in that last two weeks along with two large think bumps at the base of my penis.
