Well, everything is set. June 14 is my surgery day with Dr. EID in NY.
Flying from California Tuesday, Apt on Wednesday, then Surgery on Friday, with Follow up on Monday.
I will be staying at the Fitzpatrick Grand. I understand they have a restaurant and places nearby....
Q1.
Should I stock up on food and water so I don't have to leave the room for the first couple days? Post-Op says stay on my back...
I am guessing by day 3 I will be ok to walk around.
Q2.
Any suggestions on underwear? I normally wear briefs, but more of bikini style, and don't hold an erection.
I also saw suggestions of a jock strap over the underwear.
So maybe some full size briefs ?
Any suggestions welcome.

Seperatec underwear is what I found to work ok and at times I put a condom on to protect the glans, but I have read on here baby socks work well, yes I would put some groceries in the room with me. Good luck on your trip

If you have a urethral catheter placed, it is not comfortable to walk and you may not be allowed to do so. This is very discretionary with doctors.
My doctor recommended tight clothing, but none worked with the weight of the swollen penis, with a mummy bandage, I tried an elastic band with Velcro but the pain when putting it on was unbearable.
Finally I put on two underwear, one with a smaller size and a sports jumpsuit and began to enjoy the views.
Bring a variety of things to see what works for you, but don't worry too much either.
I hope all goes well

You will have the mummy wrap and a catheter in over the weekend and until you see the doctor Monday. The mummy wrap is topped with a jock strap which you can continue to use overtop of regular underwear when you leave his office Monday.
In recovery they will give you some refillable ice bags. Sat & Sunday you’ll want to take it easy and ice as much as possible. These are not tourist days. Best to have what you need in your room. Be sure you have a source for ice at the hotel over the weekend. Not all NYC hotels have self serve ice machines so have a plan in advance.
Finally, you’ll be on 10lb lift restriction for the return trip. Pack lite unless you have someone traveling with you to schlep around suitcases.

Hi
You havr a great surgeon. I had my surgery in January.
Def look into getting snscks and drinks prior. Or front desk brings up packages.
Also see if the restaurant delivers to the door. Or can you order from restaurants and the delivery person comes to your door.
You will need to stay in bed. I took alot of pain meds. Make sure you have pills for you to take st the hotel.
Any questions pm me
Thanks
CJ

A big, long zip up hoodie worked for me ( post op ) ....I was able to move around freely ( hands in pockets ) and no one even suspected I had a giant, mummy wrapped, 60% erection underneath. I did that for 4 weeks until Dr. Clavell greenlighted me to start cycling

I'd find out if there is room service for your first couple of days. Pizza delivery, GrubHub or any delivery service. Still set up a stash of snacks, waters, etc before.
They will probably send you home in a jock strap. Underwear I like are boxer briefs. For the first few months I wore satin boxers to bed because boxers kept tangling up in the covers.
Great doc from all the positive words about Eid. Best of luck.

Hi Treetop, glad to hear you are going to see Dr Eid. I'm coming up on 7 years, no issues so far.
I stocked up on food at local Whole Foods so I would not have to leave the room after surgery until I left for home. Room service was available but I didn't need it, and all the local cafes will delivery to your room if you want that.
I would recommend bringing a bathrobe or the hotel may provide one, I found that useful.
Remember that California pharmacies will not fill NY issued prescriptions for pain killers. You may have to fill those when you arrive in NY, I did, and Dr Eids office referred me to a local pharmacy for pickup.
Like you I flew from California. Dr Eid suggested that I leave the catheter in until I was actually home. That meant no bathroom trips between the hotel and home, especially not having trips to the head while on the plane. If you remove the cath before travel be prepared for some urinary urgency for a couple days. TSA did not flag the cath bag on my leg.
You'll be wearing a large jockstrap for the first week, so you don't need to bring any special underwear for the return trip just usual briefs with jock over it.
I was able to easily remove the cath at home and self-activate the IPP on the fourth day. Urgent Care can remove the stitches, Dr Eid provides you a letter to give them. I never required any followup with Dr Eid after I got home
If you search the forum look for Tangerine's "packing list" posts about his experience, very complete.
Feel free to PM me if you want more details on anything. -W
