While my wife is out running some big city errands, I am holed up in a hotel room in Northwest Houston recuperating from yesterday’s implantation of an IPP and a male mini-sling,

And I must acknowledge that the months I have lurked in the background at FT have given me indispensable information, comfort, and courage. Though I know there will be some tough times in the coming weeks, I hope I can report back that the result for me is as good as it has been for so many other FrankTalkers. Thank you all.

My story is very similar to yours.
(Prostatectomy and IPP)
Keep EVERYTHING clean around you.
Disinfecting wipes, hand washing on the regular and don't be afraid to use those pain-killers.
Even the strong ones
I found staying ahead of the pain was the ticket
You'll be in a much better place in about a month.

Follow Doctors orders and keep ice nearby.

Thanks for the positive feedback. I am 12 days past my IPP procedure and feeling pretty optimistic. The pain has settled into a mild but persistent ache in my scrotum and penis, though they are not sensitive to touch, and in fact, enjoy a little massage.

I never had much swelling, and it appears to be slowly lessening. I had some bruising at first, but it appears to have gone away. It is getting less difficult to sit down, stand up, and get in and out of bed. Finding a comfortable seated position is still difficult, however, which seems to be related to the swelling, and I can generally shift around to find a tolerable position.

I am down to three or four extra strength Tylenol per day now and have not taken a Tramadol in several days.

All in all, I am pleased with progress to date and optimistic about more in the coming days, though it is gonna be a long five-six weeks to the follow-up appointment.
