I had the Coloplast Titan Inflatable Penile Prosthesis done on 1/22/14. I've had a lot (seems major to me) of edema/pain. Saw my surgeon a couple of days ago and he seemed to be quite concerned when he discovered that my scrotum is attached to one side of the saline pump that was implanted there. He mentioned nothing that could be done about it, just muttered something about "all the parts are supposed to be covered with antibiotic"... so I guess he is hoping that there is no infection. Before surgery he told me that he had done over 700 of these implantations; online I've read that other surgeons have done more than 2000 of these surgeries. I'm supposed to go back to see my surgeon in 3 weeks... at that point I will be 6 weeks post surgery. Until then, what can I do to make matters better, if anything?
Question: who are the mysterious "Reps". On the day of my implant surgery everything seemed to be in place (I had been cleaned and shaved, my surgeon was there, my anesthesiologist was there, my surgical nurse was there, but they all seemed to be waiting on the mysterious "Rep") I was never introduced to the "Rep", so I can only presume that he/she was employed by the Coloplast Company to report to local surgical sites with a suitcase full of devices in hand so that the correct size could be chosen. My surgeon, by the way, has never shown/demonstrated one of these devices to me. Does all of this sound familiar? Do these devices cost in the neighborhood of $12,000.00? I would like to have seen what they decided to implant before the implantation was done! It must be platinum plated? Is there something I can do to get the saline pump released and properly hanging freely in my scrotum or will they always be welded together? Right now I'm not too sure about this being bionic thing?

Re: Saline Pump Stuck To Scrotum
The rep is an implant company rep that attends the surgery and advises on the best particular model and size to use. Try to take a couple hot baths a day and try to peel away the scrotum where it's stuck little by little.

Dr Kramer would never say... that can't be fixed, If that is the answer your doctor is giving you then you need to see Dr Kramer. It may take an abbreviated surgery or the replacement of the pump itself leaving everything else in tact, but that can be fixed. Call Dr Kramer if this guy still says it cant be fixed.

Re: Saline Pump Stuck To Scrotum
I had a AMS 700MS LGX implanted on 08/09/13 and the pump was stuck to my scrotum for about 2 months. Then all of a sudden, it seemed to break free without any help from me or my surgeon. I had mentioned it to him during my posts-op exams and he told me to just wait for several weeks and it should fix itself....and it did.
Good luck.
Bob
Good luck.

I agree with proactive.
I'm actually a patient of Dr Kramer, and he is a wonderful doctor. I highly recommend him for any further procedure you may need.

Thank you Bob for this comment. Perhaps I should not worry about this problem at all, but two months seems like a long time to determine which way it's going to go. If the interior surface of the scrotum is raw from the surgery perhaps scar tissue could grow more tightly attached to the pump during this same period of time? Other guys are mentioning the word proactive? Maybe I should be more proactive? I certainly can't go traveling off to see Dr. Kramer in Baltimore or email him without being his patient.

Re: Dr. Kramer's Response... (Saline Pump Stuck To Scrotum)
This seems to be a quite noncommittal response.

"Dear User,
Your question was as follows :
Should I worry about my scrotum being
attached to one side of the saline pump
that was implanted there during penile
implant surgery?
Here is Dr. Kramer's answer:
It sounds reasonable, if you're a few months or longer out from surgery- then infections is more remote and less likely.
