Also, do you think the new Tenacio model might have the same characteristic?

Thanks in advance!

I have excellent hearing. Until I retired I had a yearly hearing exam. Only had my baseline reset once in over 42 years. I could hear the staff talking while I was in the testing booth. They vehemently denied that it was possible until I told them what they said.

What people call a buzzing noise is misleading to me. Its a light vibration for maybe a few seconds. Nothing is audible in my case. My pump is high so if anyone could hear their pump it should be me. If I let go of the pump I quit feeling the vibration. One very slight squeeze & I let it deflate on its own. Never squeezed my cylinder to drain it. Its never auto inflated.

In my opinion, this vibration is a non event & is very way overblown. My IPP is almost eighteen months old. So it is the old style pump. Details are in my sigmature.

How do you like it?

Love it! Wish I had done it 10 yrs earlier.

Let me clarify this: I wish I had it done soon after my prostatectomy. That was the big change in my life and body that precipitated severe ED problems.

I have an AMS 700 CX model, the deflation sound is actually subtle. My experience is if you don’t hear the soft whining noise it might not be deflating. The tubing diameter is where the noise comes from - according to the medical personnel at the doctors office. Now the Tenacio pump on the other hand is somewhat smaller and supposed to be more efficient, 30% less pumps for inflation.

Thanks for your input! I’m curious, though—how does a smaller pump like the Tenacio require fewer pumps to reach maximum inflation? I would have thought that a smaller pump would need more pumps, not less. Could you explain?

This is straight from the Boston scientific product page for the Tenacio pump.

https://www.bostonscientific.com/en-US/ ... nacio.html

Independent Valving System
The TENACIO Pump introduces independent valve systems, which are thoughtfully engineered to maximize reliability across a wide user profile and to address potential causes of sticky pump.1
Key intended benefits:
Independent valving is designed to enable pump activation regardless of fast (2.5 in/s) or slow (0.25 in/s) squeeze rates.
In bench testing conducted by BSC (n=5), the TENACIO pump was found to have a 27% faster refill rate as compared to MS Pump.*1
Designed to maintain consistent performance throughout an expected implant life of 10 years (corresponding to 1,000 uses).

I see, thanks for sharing! So it’s more about allowing for faster pumping rather than needing fewer pumps overall.

My AMS pump definitely makes a noise when deflating which my partner can hear. Inflating no noise at all.

1000 uses is simple non-sense. If you cycle 3x daily for the first year you already surpass 1000 uses. These things should be tested for 100'000 uses not 1'000

There might be a slight misunderstanding. Boston Scientific uses the words "refill rate". I take that to mean that AFTER a pump. The bulb refills from the reservoir quicker. Thus the pump is ready for another squeeze quicker. Remember, the pump not only pumps out saline but it needs to suck in saline for the next squeeze.
