Trimix Storage during upcoming travel

Postby roy123 » Fri Oct 11, 2024 11:53 am

Hello All

i am getting an unopened vial from the pharmacy today and then will have a 2 hours drive until i get access to the refrigerator. then few hours later i will have another 5 hours drive until i get access to the refrigerator.

in this scenario what should i store trimix if the vial remained unopened? do i keep the vial provided by pharamcy in the freezer or the fridge?

please advise?

the pharmacy did mention that they will provide me icepack

thanks

Hi Roy
Yes keep the Trimix frozen if at all possible, refrigerated for sure. I take a cooler and icepacks when I get my stuff, then straight into the freezer when I get hom. Only time its not frozen is when I load up a bunch of syringes and then I freeze them as well, until minutes before injection. It unfreezes when I am using the VED to get plump for the shot.

What I am interested in is how you to long air travel with the vial?

It is best to keep fresh vials in the freezer. Once opened store it in the refrigerator until needed. As mentioned some guys load the needles, freeze them and use one by one.
Coming home is 6-8 hours the ice pack should be sufficient. If you're only getting one vial making needles up is a good idea.
Back when I was injecting the mix seemed to weaken if left in the fridge for too. At 6-8 weeks it didn't have the same punch as fresh stuff.

ok so i am getting the fresh vial which i will store in icepacks while driving and in the freezer while at home. however how long does it take to be thawed so i can take it out of the freezer and use it?

also once the vial opens then it has to be in the fridge rather than freezer right? in this case where the vial is opened then how should i travel with an opened vial? same strategy using icepacks?

IMHO, I'll tell you to keep it frozen except when taking it out to draw up your dose, then right back into the freezer.. The vials thaw very quickly. Most mixes are in a saline solution which lowers the freezing point.

thanks Bldoink

my compounding pharamcy said to keep the vial in the fridge not the freezer. the life of unopened vial is 45 days and once its opened its 28 days. its a 2ml vial

i guess the strorage depends on pharmacy to pharmacy. the clinic which did my trimix subscription also said the same thing

I keep my vial frozen except when I want to load some needles up. So my advice is keep it frozen and only liquefy to load your needles. Then return vial to freezer. Also freeze your needles. I find when I take a loaded needle out, it will liquefy by the time I am ready to take my penis out of the VED. Easy peasy.

Sorry for the mundane question, but how do you insure that the pre-loaded syringe is protected from being accidentally depressed?

If the syringe is frozen then it cannot be depressed. You take one out at a time and my loading area is in the spare bathroom where I hang out.
