Re: Malleable journal - nervous but hopeful
Day 6 post-surgery update: Much less pain. Haven't taken any hydrocodone in a couple of days. Just ibuprofen now and Tylenol PM to sleep, but I may not even need that. Let's see. Today I notice that my Genesis is naturally pointing more down with gravity, but I can't tell if this will remain permanently or not. It feels maybe a bit easier to conceal without actually having to try to bend it. I'm nervous about putting it in supportive underwear because my surgeon told me not to bend it for the first month, so I'm just trying to let it do what it wants to do until then. Maybe dark pants, a long shirt, and my coat (which I'll drape across my lap) will be enough for my Christmas social appearance.

Another thing I'm finding challenging is that it's probably totally unsafe to masturbate in any way. I am so riled up that it's torture, but I don't want to hurt myself either. How did you guys deal with this???

Duke, I really couldn’t do anything until around the 4 week mark because of swelling, numbness and pain, while we were at a resort in Austin, Texas; I was so horny, I got in the shower and gently used my index finger at the bottom and my thumb on the top close to my glans and just ever so gently went back and forth, because I was so horny and hadn’t had sex in a while, it didn’t take too long to cum. Yes, it felt good. Lol
There ya go, that’s my story and I’m sticking to it lol

When did you guys start doing mild exercise again? Given that walking around the house is easy now, I'm guessing that probably past the month mark? I'm dying to have some physical activity but again, I don't want to rush anything. I knew this would be a consideration before the implant, but now that I have it I'm just dying to live my life! Funny how humans are never content. 3 more weeks until my doctor follow-up visit, maybe another 2 weeks before sex? I feel like I'm biting down on a bit and it's only been a week of no release....

Duke, I got permission to do easy miles on my Road Bike at 4 weeks. He wanted me to keep it 10 miles each ride. That’s my Road Bike in my avatar photo.
It was a little tight down there, but it wasn’t too bad. I was afraid that the third cousin would have a difficult time down there while on a bike saddle, but everything found its place and I didn’t have any problems, after two weeks I was back to 30 to 50 mile rides.
I hope the Doc will give you a go ahead clearance to start doing some type of fitness exercise.

Duke, did you receive discharge instructions? They should include information about exercise, wound care, and clearance for sex, clearance for baths.... It's best to follow that guidance provided by your surgeon for his methods.
If you didn’t receive any, call the nurse and don’t hesitate to give the office a hard time!
Sometimes, even high volume and well-intentioned rookie staff forget to hand them out.

Wasim, thanks for checking in! I'm on day 9 now and am feeling great. Trying to distract myself with good movies, watching boxing, reading books, and so on. Definitely going to keep away from exercise until my doctor says I'm good to do so.

This is interesting. So maybe I'm just a few weeks away from being able to do some simple cardio on an incline treadmill. I miss my early morning cardio a lot. I'm also glad to know that you don't have any problems with 50 mile rides these days! I was worried that the bicycle seat would cause too much pressure on the groin area.

Thank you for asking! Yes, I received discharge instructions, but the instructions were maybe a little vague. "Increase exercise as tolerated" is essentially the only note about exercise I saw. I'm not going to do anything until I'm cleared to do so, but I found the vagueness a little strange. Mainly the discharge instructions had to do with avoiding excessive opioid painkiller use, noticing the standard signs of infection, and so on. Thanks for linking to Hakky's docs! Interesting to see.
