Partial revisions for Coloplast Titan implants.

Postby Friday121224 » Fri Dec 27, 2024 6:58 pm

Hey everyone,

I had a Coloplast Titan implanted about 4-5 years ago by a highly experienced surgeon, and honestly, it was a game changer for me. I had some great experiences, especially since I was newly single at the time, but the highlight was that I fell in love with an incredible woman during those years. Unfortunately, my implant failed this past month, and I wasn’t prepared for it. I was really hoping it would last 8-10 years, but it didn't. I guess I'm just one of the unlucky ones.

I've done some research, and it seems that most issues with the Coloplast Titan relate to the tubing and pump. That's what seems to be happening with mine as well. So, I’m wondering: shouldn’t there be a way to replace just the malfunctioning parts instead of doing a full revision? It seems like swapping out the pump and tubing would be less invasive and way less painful.

I found a couple of informative videos on the topic, and they might offer some insights:

1. [Pump Malfunction Management](https://www.smsna.org/smsna-videos/what ... ment-alone)
2. [Mechanical Indications for Revision](https://www.smsna.org/smsna-videos/what ... s-revision)

I’d much rather go this route than have a complete revision. I’m also considering switching to a malleable implant to avoid multiple surgeries. I’m 44 years old and just looking for the best path forward.

Would love to hear your thoughts or experiences!

There's a lot of info here on IPP and MPP, the biggest risk with MPP is erosion if sizing isn't right and the constant boner.

I think the risk of replacing just the malfunctioned part is infection (though they seem to leave the reservoir in revisions instead of just reusing it)? Someone more knowledgable can comment.

Thank you for all the feedback Nuance! I wanted to share something I found interesting: the doctor in the video mentioned that there were 0 infections reported when replacing just the tubing and the pump with approximately 100 patients. There were also zero malfunctions for 5 years mean.

This gives me hope that I can find a doctor willing to consider the option. If anyone has had experience with this type of procedure or knows a doctor who might be open to it, I'd really appreciate your insights!

I'm interested as well, if they can just put in a new pump it would be much simpler. Dr Clavell mentioned in a podcast that he does that when patients are not happy with pump placement and tubing so sounds do-able but most I've seen on franktalk do a complete revision.

The one concern is how reliable are the connectors. I'd think we want one without connectors to minimize issues.

Hello Friday
My Titan faileTud this year after 5yrs of absolute bliss. Loved my erect penis as well as having my wife to use it on. Tubing going to left cylinder developed a hole. I really thought about the malleable and spoke to a few guys on Franktalk about the malleable and the success they were having with them. Really thought that was what I was going to go with but talking to my surgeons, they both talked me out of it. I went back with the AMS LGX and glad that I did,, the revision is nothing like the original install, pain is negligible, hell I had sex after 10 days with the wife, gently of course just to get the feeling. If this one fails I will go back with another .. not living but once and I want to be as natural as I can, the AMS is just that

Wilson,

Did any Dr. discuss just replacing the tubing with you? Glad you are liking your AMS! Any reason why you switched from Titan to AMS?

Who was your surgeon? Did you ask him if it’s possible to just change the pump?

No, he just came in, said it needed a full replacement, and left. He didn't give me time to ask any questions. My current insurance won't cover the revision.

I’m curious if insurance would at least cover any potential complications like infection (if it were to occur) or will they say, we didn’t approve this so you are on your own?
