Onset of Old Man's Disease

Postby KenJ1947 » Fri Feb 24, 2023 10:11 pm

I didn't know just where to post this, so here goes.

Two years back, I had a dribbling issue. An additional year before, I started using kegels as part of an attempt to "cure" ED. They didn't work for me for ED, but I did them for several months. After giving up on them for ED, based on a book on prostate issues, I started them again when dribbling started. Dribbling went away.

This year dribbling became worse. I've started kegels again, but after a month, they weren't working this time. BTW, I'm 75 and implanted (1 1/2 years ago). I went to my doc and sort of expected a prostate check (I'm not at all against having it checked). No check. Last time I had it checked, my implant doc basically said I had no swelling at all. Now, given the severe symptoms, I expected the doc to check for BPH but he just wanted to start me on Flomax!

No more meds! I looked up solutions for an enlarged prostate. Other than meds, I found some info about prostate massage. Since my wife won't do it, I looked into prostate massagers. Has anyone used one to resolve BPH issues? Any recommendations? Thanks for any info about it.
Married 50+ years, 75, ED for 10 years.

BPH wakes a guy in the middle of the night to pee because the enlarging prostate pushes against the bladder, reducing its volume. ConsumerLab.com says that beta-sitosterol is good for BPH. I used saw palmetto for years to lessen this problem and was happy with it, but the beta works a little better, I think. After a year on it I see no side effects.
Age 79 in 2024. On testosterone replacement due to hypothalamus malfunction. (Attention depressed guys: low testosterone is a cause.) Healthy health nut but ED due to getting old. Like to keep enough cardiovascular ability to thrust for 30 min.

My urologist currently has me on Cialis Daily 5mg to treat my BPH and ED. However, it’s not working well for either one. I still get up maybe twice a night to pee and as for the erections. Well not doing to well with the 5mg pill. I can get an erection sometimes and if I do get one, it only lasts a few minutes. Definitely not long enough to finish the job.

If you're talking an 8hr night then I don't think twice is all that bad. You may want to try injections for the other issue They work great for most guys.

Twice is not bad at all. Trimix along with your 5mg Cialis. I take both.

I've dribbled ever since my implant. It's worse now because of bladder cancer, having to do a scan every three months using a catheter and scope. Just had prostate checked and all is good there. Now I always sit to pee, use TP to wipe when done. To get the last couple of drops out I have to squeeze my shaft from my sack to the tip. Worse is after an orgasm where cum dribbles out drop by drop. Being an Old Man all I say is it's better than the option.

Old Guy I have sat to pee at home for 20 years .. no aiming ...middle of the night no wet seat .. don't even have to wash my hands grab my fat pad and give it a shake .. makes her happy much less mess to clean up and I think it is easier to pass urine if your prostate is swollen like mine ias most of the time .. for all you guys getting ready to make a comment take a paper towel wet it slightly .. if you have a vanity or wall near you commode with the wall or vanity and watch it turn yellow .. it splashes more than you know when your standing and peeing.

Your urologist should move you to stronger ED meds: viagra 25/50/100 mg, cialis 20 mg, or tadalafil. If those are contraindicated or eventually ineffective, move on to getting erect with a vacuum erection device + cock ring. Beyond that there's self-administered penile injections just before sex. Other than that, you've run out of treatment options.

That's where I am today. So I'm getting a surgical cure this month for my ED: an Inflatable Penile Prosthesis (IPP). Medicare will pay for it. Lots of videos FYI on YouTube and also here on the IMPLANTS forum. Good luck
