Valuable lessons I've learned over the last 7 days after surgery

Hello Everyone,

The past week has been quite the wild ride. So many physical and emotional aspects to this journey. I'd like to share a few things I've learned that might be a benefit to those about to get implanted. I've been very fortunate in that I've connected with a Franktalk user who was implanted by the same doctor about 9 weeks ahead of me. He has been very patient, and a tremendous help. I do recognize that these are only my opinions so they may not resonate with everyone.

1. Ask lots and lots of question both of your surgeon, and the members here on the forum. Regardless of how obscure you feel your question might be, chances are someone has experienced exactly what you are going through. Even if the questions have been asked many times before, ask anyway. Knowledge is power, and will put your mind at ease.

2. Try as many things as you can to make yourself comfortable during the healing process. Tight underwear, loose underwear, letting your boys breath fresh air while laying flat on your back. Allow yourself to relax, and not stress over chores, or other tasks. Those will still be there once you are healed. Ask for help and support. I finally discovered that my underwear weren't tight enough. I had a horrible burning sensation anytime I walked around the house. Once I sat down, everything went away. Now I can walk around without any issues. It's a game changer.

3. Emotionally you are going to span the spectrum. 20 yeara of anxiety and depression have done a number on my mental health. I have felt an incredible range of emotions lately. I have avoided sexual situations due to embarrassment, self loathing, and fear. Those feelings are gone!!! Don't get me wrong, I'm nervous for my first sexual experience, but I'm so excited as well. I have a family friend who is a nurse practitioner. She also happens to be very attractive. I've asked for her assistance to check my surgery site just to make sure I'm healing properly because I am so concerned about infections. While looking me over she politely asked if she could feel what the implant felt like. While it was very clinical, it was such a surreal experience to have an attractive woman feel me with a rock hard erection. It was an amazing feeling to no longer be afraid to let someone touch me. It was also very reassuring to have someone verify I was healing just fine. My surgeon is an hour and a half away from my home.

4. Don't pay attention to healing rates. We are all so different. I'm very healthy and active. I was naive in thinking I'd be healing fast. Patience is the key, and as uncomfortable as I am at different times, I'm thrilled to be on this journey. Best decision of my life!

5. Don't let the loss of size deter you from getting an implant. I know we aren't supposed to measure for a few weeks after surgery. I was too curious, and wanted to check my progress more for fun than anything. I have lost about an inch in length, and definitely some in girth. I don't even care to be honest. I'm so excited to start cycling to see what I can do to make gains. This may sound bizarre, but I view it as a fun challenge. I look at it this way. What good is having a large penis if it's nothing more than a useless paperweight. Be your own advocate, get things fixed, and reclaim your life.

6. When it comes to telling women you have an implant. My opinion is that if a woman looks at you as less than a man or judges you, they are not someone you'd like to spend your time with. I did this procedure for me. My wife is a unique individual, and not necessarily an overly emotional person. When I broached the subject, she really didn't ask a lot of questions. She seemed rather perplexed. She has her own demons that she wrestles with. I know some women will take it as a blow to their ego. Give it time. My wife has seen the benefits to my mental state. It has inspired her to address her health issues so the trickle down effect is positive. The female friends I have been open with all seem fascinated, curious, and very supportive.

I'll close there. Keep in mind I am no.expert. I have had my moments of panic. This was a huge decision for me, but I'm so.much happier now, and it's only been a week. If anyone wants to chat, see pictures, or do a show and tell, I'm totally open to that. I'm an hour and a half north of Sacramento.

Look l, my penis shrunk after prostate surgery. Everyone is different but I'm happy to have a hard penis. Your paperweight comment is spot on.
I don't think I lost any additional length from implant surgery but I did gain a hard penis!

I will have to travel pretty far for surgeon too, it's about an 8 hour drive or 1hr flight so my first appointment will be a Telehealth one.

What did your nurse friend say when she felt it?

You must have some pretty open friendships to be open like you have and talk about something that's so personal, it's making me think maybe I should open up to more people
