HEY GUYS - THOUGHT I'D PASS ALONG MY RECENT DOPPLER ULTRASOUND EXPERIENCE FOR ANY OF YOU WHO MIGHT HAVE ONE COMING UP. . .
GOT TO OFFICE RIGHT ON TIME AND WAS QUICKLY TAKEN BACK THE ULTRASOUND ROOM BY NURSE TECHNICIAN AND WAS TOLD TO DROP MY PANTS AND UNDIES, LIE DOWN ON TABLE, AND COVER MY LOWER HALF WITH PAPER SHEET. SHE LEFT AND I DID AS I WAS TOLD. SHE AND DOC CAME BACK IN A FEW MINUTES LATER AND AFTER A FEW PLEASANTRIES DOC PUT SOME GEL ON THE PIECE OF EQUIPMENT (NOT MINE!) AND PROCEEDED WITH THE PRE-ERECTION PART OF THE PROCEDURE - TOOK ABOUT TWO MINUTES. HE THEN MATTER-OF-FACTLY INJECTED JR. WITH SOME MAGIC JUICE - MASSAGED JR. JUST A BIT AND BOTH LEFT THE ROOM. HE SEEMED TO BE GONE FOR AN HOUR - IT WAS PROBABLY MORE LIKE 20 MINUTES - I OCCASIONALLY LOOKED UNDER THE SHEET TO SEE WHAT WAS GOING ON - PRETTY MUCH NUTHIN' - EVEN TRIED TO 'HELP THINGS ALONG' A BIT BUT NUTHIN'. . . DOC AND NURSE CAME BACK IN AND I ASKED WHAT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE GOING ON DOWN THERE - HE SAID I SHOULD HAVE A PARTIAL ERECTION - IT WAS PARTIAL ALL RIGHT! (I WAS BEGINNING TO FIGURE OUT THAT MY FEARS WERE ABOUT TO BE REALIZED) APPARENTLY IT WAS PLUMP ENOUGH FOR HIM TO DO THE ULTRASOUND WHICH BASICALLY CONSISTED OF HIM MOVING THE APPARATUS AROUND ON JR. WHILE NURSE TOOK PICS WHEN HE HIT THE RIGHT SPOT. TOOK ABOUT 15 MINUTES MAX. OUTCOME - SEVERE VENOUS LEAKAGE/PEYRONIE'S DISEASE - FIBROSIS MAINLY AT THE BASE OF THE PENIS - DOC SAID IT''S LIKE A SIEVE - BLOOD COMES IN BUT THE FIBROSIS ALLOWS IT TO GO RIGHT BACK OUT - NO WOOD! LOOKING AT PUTTING ME IN A CLINICAL TRIAL FOR A DRUG THAT 'DISSOLVES' THE PLAQUE/FIBROSIS AFTER BEING INJECTED INTO IT. SO FOR NOW I WAIT AND HE WROTE ME A PRESCRIPTION FOR STRONGER TRIMIX - THAT'LL HAVE TO DO FOR NOW. IMPLANT IS DEFINITELY CALLED FOR IF OTHER THINGS DON'T WORK OUT. HOPE THIS HELPS SOME OF YOU GUYS OUT THERE.

Doppler & Venous Leak
Rick,
I'll be very interested in hearing how your clinical trial of this plaque-dissolving drug turns out. I highly suspect I have a partial venous leakage near the base of my shaft; there's also a slight kink or bend there. My urologist said that since Viagra will give me a useable erection, (1) insurance won't pay for a doppler exam and (2) the "treatment" would still be Viagra. However, if this new drug can actually help the underlying cause, I'd much rather take that short term than continue to rely on Viagra, etc. on an ongoing basis. For now, a cock and ball ring seems to 'stop' the leak where it's located.
So what's the name of this drug?

Thanks. I appreciate the detailed description, but am sorry for your results.
I am thinking I may have a venous leak and would like know more about it. I have endured increasing ED over the past 15 years as a result of diabetes. I can not get even a semi without medication. I am currently taking 50mg of Viagra (down from 100 mg after starting Testim 1% gel 3 months ago) which provides an 85% erection which lasts for about 10 minutes before beginning to fade away. I can maintain it and even increase it to 90+% if I use constriction. I can occasionally remove the constriction during intercourse and maintain an 80% erection for about 10 minutes before it begins to fade.
I was wondering if this situation is consistent with a venous leak? Perhaps you could describe your symptoms which led you to believe you had a venous leak?

Re: DOPPLER ULTRASOUND EXPERIENCE
I've e-mailed the doc to get the name of the drug - it's already used for other purposes - the trial and hopefully FDA approval is specifically for fibrosis/peyronie's - I'll update when I hear.
My 'symptoms' are/were that I've never had a firm erection and none of the other treatments worked - so I finally found a good uro who specializes in e.d. issues and that's the first thing he 'prescribed' - the doppler ultrasound to see what's what or what's not what.
more to come.

Here's the drug that is part of the clinical trial to help 'dissolve' the fibrosis/plaque of Peyronie's Disease. Keep your fingers crossed.

Rick:
Thanks for sharing this experience. I'm glad there is a trial that you may qualify for and will keep fingers crossed that you get the opportunity to assist science and others with this ED issue and hopefully improve your own efforts and outcomes.
Your experience shows that, at least, some Uro's are trying and that continued progress is possible. Your willingness to share is what makes this site so valuable to the rest of us. Please keep us posted and good luck!
Regards,
Dick

Just found this link that talks about the study I'm hoping to get into if my doc's office is approved - check your state - maybe they are conducting where you are!

Re: DOPPLER ULTRASOUND EXPERIENCE
Have any of you tried that horseshoe ring.....It might help....suppose to be state of the art....but get the size right maybe best to get the 3 size set (although they explain how to size it). Last night we experimented a bit with it the first time...It certainly held the erection, but we didn't try for the home run. Since dropping some of my meds, my sensitivity seems to be slowly returning....so we just were doing a little blood flow therapy.

Are there any alternate treatments for Venous Leak that are currently being used that do not involve surgery?
