Hello guys, my name is Don and I am in Central Florida. Have only been dealing with ED for a little over two years now. I have run the gamut of pills, VED & constriction bands, and finally injections for the past year. After all these treatments, it was decided that my problem is venous leakage. This became more evident with Trimix injections which would provide a viable erection, only to have it immediately subside if I laid down. It was recommended that I have an implant. My insurance company would not cover a dime of it, so I had to wait until I could change carriers, which I recently did. Then plans were back on for the implant, and I met with my surgeon today. My implant will be done next month, and while I have researched a lot on the net, what I have found are various levels of satisfaction with it, along with lots of both good and bad outcomes. Part of me is eager to get it done, while some of the experiences terrify me. I've spent 8 months doing my homework, and now with only a month to go, I hope to get more familiar with more real life experiences from others who have been down this road. I am very happy to have found this group & look forward to learning all I can. Thanks!

People with bad outcomes post a lot more, and receive a lot more attention, than people with good results. I don't know the statistics, but it seems to me that bad outcomes are actually quite rare, and that the great majority have positive outcomes. As has been stated here often, the odds of a good result are affected significantly by the skill and expertise of your surgeon - find the best doc you can, such as Kramer, Eid, Karpmann, Graber, Milam and others mentioned in the FrankTalk Implants forum. Good luck!

Thanks Dave, I appreciate the information, and I agree that the vast majority of men seem to be very satisfied with the results of the implant. I have great confidence in my surgeon, coming with great recommendations from a specialist I have been seeing for a couple of years for an unrelated urological problem. After our initial consult, he told me that I should do fine, seeing nothing that would present a problem. My overriding concern is the shortening that occurs in a lot of cases. I don't have that much to spare....but he assured me that in his experience & if I followed all the pre-surgery instructions, I would be fine. I went into the consult thinking I wanted the LGX, but he doesn't like them, and said I would do better with the Coloplast, so that's what will be done. Now its just a matter of waiting for a month until the surgery date. I look forward to reading as many of the accounts both here and on other websites.
