Hi Guys,
Well, its done, and all went pretty well so far. Got the ams cx. First appointment, so I was home at 1pm (i live nearby). Some pain, not too miuch, but i do have a strange thing...I feel like i have to pee, which is strange since I have the Foley in! The feeling is in the penis itself, not the feeling of a full bladder. Did anyone else experience this?
If i take the oxycodone, it helps, but just wondering if this is any kind of normal.

Other than that, I take the foley out tomorrow and the bandages, so thats gonna be fun!

First congrats on getting it done and overwith. The hard part (pun intended) is mostly behind you now.
Had mine done a few weeks ago. Went home with a catheter overnight. Definitely had the constant urge to pee. Felt the pressure more in my dick rather than bladder. Spent the night in a hotel near the docs office cyz i live some distance away. Spent the evening lying there watching movies. The cool thing was being able to do that and never once having to get up to pee!
Went to the docs office the next morning to get checked and remove the catheter. If you have never had one before they're not a big deal coming out. He drains the bulb that holds it in place and it slips right out. Only thing i felt was a real urge to pee then right at the tip. I expect yours will come out easy too.
Just follow every instruction your doc gives you to the letter and youll do great.

Thanks Mick, for the encouraging words! Yeah, tomorrow I take it out and unwrap. Afraid to think of what it'll look like! I'll do the oxy tonight and try to get some sleep. Once it kicks in the urge to pee subsides. Glad you're doing well...Doctor Kramer is a great surgeon and a real nice guy. Keep me posted on your progress also! CHeers.

Day two post op, last night I took the damned catheter out...felt better after that. I was supposed to wait until morning, but technically it was (1am) so whatever. Took the bandages off and looks a bit short, but appreciable swelling, so final size (i was almost 6") unknown. But whats a half inch between friends? I'm 20 % inflated so it feels shore like a blue-ball hardon. This too shall pass, especially with oxycodone. I'm calling Dr. Kramer today with concerns and to make a follow up appointment. Using the plastic urinal, which helps, and walking bow-legged around the house. Fun. More to follow, have a great day/weekend brothers!

Senate - glad to hear things are going well - well, at least as to be expected. . . . I will be there in less than 4 weeks.
Question(s): Did you get to see/talk to Dr. Kramer before your surgery that morning? We had chatted about a couple of things when went to see him a month or so ago - just wanna make sure he knows/remembers about them - mostly the ventral phalloplasty (get rid of some of the turkey neck while he's down there) and a couple of other things.
Since you live close by - did you come in the night before and stay in a hotel? I'm coming up from Richmond the night before so will be looking for lodging. Seems like you're in and out pretty quickly - wondering if we should check out of the hotel on our way to the surgery or come back afterwards and relax until we have to check-out.

Hey Rick,
Yes Dr. Kramer and his team visits you before the procedure and goes over everything...he's great. You'll love him and his approach. I drove in in the morning, my daughter took me (little awkward), and drove me home. I went in at 7:30 and was in the car at 1pm. I would get a hotel, there are few near the hospital, and just CHILL OUT after and watch tv or read. Kramer says thats the best thing. Also, I spoke to him this morning because I took off the bandages and looked frighteningly small and bruised. He said don't even look until 4-6 weeks. Size will return and bruising goes away. You'll have some nice drugs so take them...don't try to tough it out.
Best of luck, keep us posted. I can honestly say without this forum I probably wouldn't have done the implant...thats how good peer support is!

senatephoto, yes I had the exact same experience until they removed the Foley. A word of advice, go easy on the pain killers, they will constipate you. Start drinking the prune juice now and when you eat take the stool softeners. Just had mine July 7th.

Ok my two cents as someone who had surgery with Dr K three months ago this week. Dont overdo immediately postop. If you are more than an hour or so in the car to get home and can afford a hotel, stay the night after surgery, That way you arent in traffic sitting post op and can have at least the night close to Dr K just in case you have any questions or issues. It also keeps you laying flat for the first 12-24 hours postop to minimize bleeding and swelling which will delay your healing and prolong your pain. As a doc myself I can tell the patients that babied a wound for 24 hours after I sewed them up from those that didnt by the way it looks down the road. And having a hotel room close by will give you less to think about while you are recovering from the happy juice they gave you in surgery. I live in New England so much further away than you so actually laid around at the hotel for 2 days postop and attribute my minimal pain and no bruising to speak of at 2 weeks out to giving the tissue and blood vessels time to retract and close up before moving around. That said if Richmond is close being in your own bed is also comforting. That first 24 hours though can be crucial to the rest of your recovery. I met Dr Kramer for the first time that AM. The riots were happening the week I was there so we had to cancel my Tuesday appointment prior to surgery Wednesday. But surgeons always want to see you to be sure you know what they are doing and reassure you. You will have a chance to ask questions and offer reminders.

Bottom line is you are having a very skilled surgeon do your procedure. Great choice. We will be welcoming you to the club soon and you will be reassuring others. Looking forward to reading about your experience.

PS I used the hospital shuttle to pick me up from my hotel by the harbor in the AM and bring me and my wife back. Free and no worries about getting there.
