New Type Pump Free Penile Prosthesis

Hello All ,

I saw the following article on medscape and it gives me hope :

Now please note that the study was partially funded by American Medical Systems or AMS as we call it.
One of my colleagues who also suffers from the same problem got in touch with a doctor who was involved and
he said they should be out in the next 2 years. This gives me a lot of hope.
It's made out of nitinol , they claim its better than or equivalent to the inflatable prosthesis and the results prove so.
It doesn't need any pump or reservoir or hydraulic based piping and tubing.

Thoughts and comments team franktalk?
I have something in mind for all those people who are interested in this type of implant.
Want to get together to make an appeal to these doctors and other people for all impotent men.

We should keep in mind that even those who have an implant will need a revision sometime in the future.
Specially young guys like me. I'm just 27.

My thoughts are there are always encouraging stories and studies about the next best thing coming out but they never seem to get here. Get what you can now. Life is short. Waiting two years for something better may turn into 5 years where you are doing nothing at all. That is wasted precious time. As you say, when it is time for the revision, there maybe something "new" that you can transition into.

My thoughts are also that anything new they are working on is great and I like it when people post them here. Who knows where this industry will be 10 to 15 years from now. So thanks for sharing.

Congratulations on your research!! That's great to know that medicine is continuing to advance in this area.
I'm with but you and will support any idea that allows the advances on penile implants , but I agree with chiali09. Life is short. I was implanted only 4 months ago at the age of 31 and I love my implant.. I'm having great sex. It's amazing how I can easily get an erection and keep it for hours.
If I had done it sooner, maybe at 27, I could have enjoyed many other years of my life.

I know I'll need a revision sometime in the future, and I would love even more If i could get a new model that doesn't need any pump or reservoir or hydraulic based piping and tubing.

Yes, you can count on me. In the past I started two other threads on the futility of the hydraulic IPP for many people. I'll say it again: "there must be good reasons why only 1.5% of men having a radical prostatectomy get an IPP." BECAUSE THE IPP SCROTAL PUMP CANNOT BE MANIPULATED BY MANY MEN. Coloplast & AMS operate with a take it or leave it mentality. For example, they could market the damn pump already broken in, but no, you have to break it in after it's installed!

Yes, I'm very interested in the magnetic induction SMA prosthesis and would join you in helping to push this forward.

I believe this issue is overstated
I'm a little over 2 months post-op and have had no problem inflating even at the very beginning. Yes the pump was a bit hard at first but I was still able to pump it with no problem. 2+ months post op it has become very easy to pump, the pump has gotten very soft.

I agree, there are a number of conditions that affect the ability to manipulate the apparatus and they can be frustrating. Even just being unfamiliar with the pump and release button can be a frustrating experience in the beginning. Barring any other conditions though, the pump does get easier to use over time and the release button, once you know where to find it, works as advertised. It takes time to experiment with different hand positions, standing or laying down, etc to discover what works best for you, but once you establish a routine, it all becomes just natural. Operating the equipment just a few weeks after surgery was painful and frustrating, but now at just about 3 months it is almost second nature. The AMS LGX pops and buzzes when it should.

I'm only speaking for personal experience. Finding the pump was not an issue at all, it was incredibly easy to find it. Pumping in the for the first few weeks was a bit tough but not too much, and it got way easier in the weeks that followed. No need to be hostile, we're all on the same team here, and I'm only sharing my personal experience with the implant. I cannot talk on behalf on other man
