I have come to the conclusion that my ED is probably mostly psychological.
I can still get spontaneous erections and Cialis / injections work sometimes, albeit inconsistently. I'm healthy, no high blood pressure, diabetes, etc. I'm 29 years old.
I've already tried hypnosis and stuck with it for close to a month but it did not help. I'm almost positive a psychologist would not help either. I've basically been suffering from ED all my life and so I think psychologically it would take a very long time to make me completely rewire and not feel any kind of performance anxiety during sex (if that is even possible). Lifestyle wise, I'm also looking to have multiple partners in my early 30s and make up for lost time and experiences in my 20s......so I would like to be able to get an erection on command as much as possible....
Given the above, do you guys think an implant is the right solution? Some of you may have followed my other post and I am very close to making this pretty important decision. The fact that I am only 29 worries me because I may need 4 to 5 replacements in my life and the risk of future infections during at least 1 of those replacements scares me. I'm trying to get a sense for whether I'm overthinking the future infection risk or if it would be greatly minimized by going to a top surgeon again. I like the fact that Dr. Eid for instance, has close to 0 infections for virgin penile implants....but I'm wondering if replacements are also capable of this kind of success rate....
On a related note, I know Dr. Eid does a doppler test pre-surgery which I expect will reveal to him that I don't have venous leakage or any major physical issues. My guess is he will probably come to the conclusion that my issue is mostly psychological as well. Do you think this will prevent him from performing the implant at my age? This would really suck because I do feel like I'm running out of options and time is flying by

Re: Implants for Psychogenic ED?
Have you had a thorough medical workup including labs to ensure that this isnt hormonal or chemical imbalance related? then a urology eval perhaps including doppler to see what your options are. If all medical/chemical cure options are truly exhausted by specialists not just local wannabe's then consider sex therapy which helps a lot of people. You might need to go to a large tertiary hospital for that last step. I suspect it will ease your mind that it is indeed the right thing to do if you have exhausted all the therapies in an in depth way. As a doc and someone who went through a lot of workup first I still had concerns about the possible complications and need for replacement and infections but had something gone wrong would have known I really didnt have a choice. That said my experience has been great other than the journey to the implant which was littered with bad experiences with docs who dont understnad how ED can impact your life. It is always a personal decision with rarely one right answer but keep advocating for yourself by getting the answers you need from docs who understand and have the expertise to help guide you. Dont be afraid to fire a few as it is your life.

Get a Doppler test ASAP. I suspect you have a physical problem like venous leak, and the psychological aspects just make it worse.
