Unbelievable Last Six Weeks

Postby PCHelp76180 » Mon Aug 17, 2015 4:20 pm

This is a follow up to my implant string of July 7th. I went back to my Urologist on July 17th with excruciating anal pain and bleeding during BM's. This turned out to be a sphincter fissure just over 1/2 in long. This happens post-op due to the anesthesia and no BM's for three days. In my case the stool softener's weren't enough to soften things sufficiently to prevent tears. Another factor were the pain killers, I literally didn't know I was torn until I was off the pain killers.

So I went in for the repair of the sphincter and the torn muscle on Aug 3rd, healing has been progressing slow which is normal. To anyone who has never experienced this be prepared for a spinal block (very painful) and lots of leakage. They inject Botox into the surrounding muscle to give time for the repairs to heal, hence the "leakage"

Just when I thought I was back on the road to recovery I shocked when taking a shower I felt something itching near the base of my penis and looked down to see what looked like a large pimple, I rubbed it and puss just started to pour out. It drained for about 3 hours, I called the Urologist's emergency number and was sent to the ER. I was sent home with 3 weeks of antibiotics, the early prognosis is it is an superficial skin infection because it is right on the suture line. The blood and culture results will be available in a week. I am really hoping that is the case, as I never experienced any pain or redness, but I did see a bump under the base of the penis and just thought it was part of the extra tubing.

To everyone who has experienced these type of symptoms, what can I expect? Is this a bad sign, will the IPP have to be removed?

Wow it seems like you have had quite an ordeal here. I hope everything works out and that there is no infection to speak of.

Best of luck.

Thank you flman48, the test results came back from the culture swab and I have a staff infection. I am keeping my chin up and taking every effort to clear it out. The main reason to post this information is to show everyone that is thinking of getting the implants the risks they might encounter.

Staph bacteria is normally found on the skin so chances are good (we hope) that as you said the infection is superficial.

You're right flman48, thats what the Mrs keeps telling me. This may sound childish, but it's terribly messy. I drain constantly, in my bed, in shorts non-stop ! I have found that fem-pads make the best absorbent material, so cut one in half and stuff in my shorts. I have laugh, it gives me a bigger budge LOL :D

Thank you seeking info, (aka Scott) I will take all the prayers I can get. I just keep thinking to myself there must be something there that the body is trying to get rid of. I wish I knew more about this type of infection. If I do not see any slowing down of the drainage by next week I am going to contact my Dr. again and ask for something stronger.
