Thinking of going bionic
Dr wants to use the Titan.
I want my former length.
Dr does not like the AMS implant, I think because it can loosen up.
Any other problems with AMS implant?
If that is the case that AMS loosens up in 5-10 years I will change over to the Titan
If I pushed for the AMS implant can I get back any of my former length?
About what % can I expect growth if went with AMS implant?
Thank you

Re: AMS implant, length
I'm not sure what you mean when you say the AMS might "loosen up." In any case, your implanted length will be about the same as your current stretched flaccid length. An implant will not give you more length than you have naturally. If you should lose some length as the result of surgery, odds are you will gain it back over time. There are endless discussions of this in this forum - do some reading and you will see.
Dave, 80, Maryland - Implant (Titan) 2008 by Dr. Andrew Kramer (failed Sept 2020) - never used due to a stroke that, among other things, ended my sex life.

Re: AMS implant, length
Hi,
The most important thing is experienced doctor. Go with a high volume doctor, even if you have to travel. AMS gives more natural feeling at flaccid state. Regaining your length depends on many things such as how long you had ed, if you had any surgeries, diseases, glans engorgement, your age, doctor"s skill,,......etc. AS dg_more mentioned, there are tons of post about this. Use the search and you will read about it all night. AMS and Titan devices are both very reliable. Don't forget your former length is your shaft's length plus glans fully engorged. How long you had ED? how do you know your original length. Usually men lose length due to prolonged ed. It takes few months before you are fully broken in to know the final length.
Ask your doctor why he does not use AMS and let us know.
find a high volume doctor or you will be very sorry.

Re: AMS implant, length
I think you should not be scared to go for the Titan. The length you'll retain depends mostly on how good your surgeon is i.e if he's sizing your implant properly and aggressively, not so much on the implant brand (tho it is important). Coloplast or AMS is like ford or chevy, no clear winner, just preferences.
Dr. Eid implanted me with a Titan, and the crazy thing is I'm 1/4 inch longer than pre-implant. This is because dr. Eid put the properly sized implant, and I had a slight curvature that the implant is fixing which increased my length.
He measured me pre-surgery, told me what kind of implant he'll put, and the exact size I'll be post surgery, and what he said was 100% correct, I ended up with the promised length, even a bit more. Most surgeons decide on the sizing in the operating room, but Dr. Eid does it differently which I really liked.
I've heard about the AMS expanding cylinders, and while you might slightly grow, it will be marginal at best. So don't expect to gain an inch or anything. Your surgeon not sizing you properly is what will cause issues
My suggestion would be to go with a skilled high-volume surgeon, don't settle for anything less.

I recommend making sure your doctor doesn't rely on only one company as opposed to another. Go with a doctor who says s/he will use the one best for you. It's not uncommon for a physician to have a financial incentive for being exclusive with one product. My doctor implanted me with a Titan, then another, then switched to AMS because he thought it was in my best interest. He was right.
