Postby roninhouston » Wed Sep 02, 2015 6:33 pm

I have decided to create two new threads: What I Know Now: PRE-OP and What I Know Now: POST-OP in the hope others would share.

Practice you KEGELS, they came in great help when the catheter was inserted and you have that feeling you want to pee but can't. My KEGELS helped.

Peeing is going to be a new experience as it sprays everywhere, this is why I suggest you have a urinal. When you cannot carry one with you take a cup, it will make life in the bathroom must easier like at work.

The first couple of weeks at home I would use the urinal while on my knees, it seem to be easier. Note: immediately empty the urinal/cup, you do not want to knock it over.

I was told to bring to jock straps to the hospital. BIKE straps run small, so whatever your waist size is get one size larger.

I used the VED Protocol prior too my IPP. There are several post on this on FT, get the article by Dr. Dineen. I followed it for nine weeks prior to my operation.

I will try an post a picture of my marked VED cylinder, I have used it for the past nine weeks pre-op. The cylinder is marked to show weekly progress for the 1st 7 weeks. The flacid stretch(6-1/16") before starting the therapy and flacid stretch length after 7 weeks is 6-3/4". Pumped length was 7.5"

Prior to my op I shared my marked cylinders with Doctor Cornell. He put in cylinders: 18 cm with 5 cm RTEs, i.e. I should inflate to 7 inches, am at 5 inches partially inflated. I do not expect this immediately, but have been told it may take as long as 18 to 24 months of cycling daily to achieve it.

Will have to buy a new NO-NOSE bike seat. Can use the reclinding (recumber ?) bikes at health club once everything is up out of the way. The straight up underwear is essential, keeps the pump up and away from sitting on it, a NO NO.

Keep your legs elevated. First couple of weeks slept with legs on two pillows, with three bags of ice.
Some body suggested on FT to use a rolled up towel to hold the scotum up' but my underwear kept mine elevated.
