We need your questions

Postby Frank Talk Admin » Fri Sep 04, 2015 10:32 am

Guys
We are about to start an educational program for men with sexual dysfunctions. One of the first programs will be on penile injections. We do know that many men are prescribed these and often receive little to no training. Even the men who are trained get nervous the first couple of times on their own.

For those of you who use, or used to use, injections, what were your fears, questions, worries about injecting? We will do our best to answer every possible concern and question guys have in this project. Yeah, we are bound to miss some points, but I'd love to know what questions you had when you were either first thinking about using injections, or after you got going.

What problems did you have? What secrets did you learn? What made it easier/more difficult? What do you wish you had known before using them? What did your doctor forget to tell you? What were your biggest fears? We want to create a class where all these questions are answered.

We have some top doctors involved in this, but we want to know what YOU wanted to know!
Just reply to this thread and tell us your thoughts!
Thank you
Paul

When I started looking into injections I really wanted to see the before and after results preferably in videos showing the process and results. I researched endlessly and only found a few that really didn't show anything of what to expect although I found countless videos on implant procedures, inflation/deflation. Other questions were probably more usual like does it hurt, what does the erection feel like, does it feel and act like a normal erection, etc.

I was concerned about the possible pain/discomfort of the injection. I found that a 30 gauge, 1/2 inch needle provided a relatively no discomfort effective result.

I was also concerned that the injection would provide a long lasting (preapasm) erection but found that starting with a low dose and slowly increasing the dose was a good way to proceed.

I am a 62 yr old type 2 diabetic that has been taking trimix for a year and a half now. Viagra and Cialis quit working after taking them for 10 years. I have had ED for 12 years now, with diabetes being the primary cause, as I have had no prostate problems at all.

Initially I had no training whatsoever. The Urologist simply explained the procedure and about the trimix itself, and I was on my own. The first time I tried I hit the urethra and most of the medicine was instantly wasted. It was a bit of a learning curve to hit the corpus cavernosa, and it took me at least a dozen tries before I was able to master hitting it every time!
I discovered that slowly inserting the needle enabled me to feel when I broke through the tough tunica, as when I broke through into the tunica and successfully into the corpus, the syringe felt like it was being sucked into the penis. Bingo! I knew I was in there, and I would pull back the plunger on the syringe and note if blood was being pulled into the syringe.
If you see blood when pulling back on the plunger, you have hit the corpus successfully!

After I mastered the administration of the trimix, then I had to experiment in order to find the correct dosage. I started with what the Urologist ordered, and I had a 7 hour erection! It went away abruptly with no lasting problems. Then I had 2 more episodes of priapism in which I had 6 hour erections. I gradually reduced the dosage until I had a 2 hour erection almost every time I injected. Now I can vary the dose as to how long I want the erection to last. The only side effect I have had is a little bit of a bend to the right in my penis.

All in all, trimix therapy has provided me a more than adequate way to resume fairly normal sexual activity, and has been very worthwhile!

I inject the same way as Rickey.
I wish they would explain that all erections aren't created equally. I think that an erection that kinda comes and goes and isn't rock hard can last 3 or 4 hours without any worry. I'm sure many people have freaked out and gone to the ER needlessly.
I also hit the urethra the first time, but also got the bonus of hitting a vein. I hate it when that happens.
That's when I started looking at the injection site.

These are great answers guys. Thank you.
We get a LOT of guys who had no training and are looking for help.

Would you answer one more question? We did a focus group about 18 months ago on this topic, but I want to see if anything has changed.

Since corporations are unwilling to sponsor us, or even donate, we have had to come up with a way to pay for this site and even expand it. We are planning on making a whole library of videos on ED and men's sexual medicine using the top doctors in the country along with really complete instruction and education.
If you were just starting out with injections and were nervous, or needed help injecting and there was a video telling you absolutely anything you wanted to know...tons of video example, tips, tricks, hints, trouble shooting, "what to do..." "what if..." etc. Would you be willing to pay $15-$20 to view as many times as you want?
This income would help fund FrankTalk and the ED Foundation.
Thanks
Paul

I believe I would have been willing to pay $15 to $20 for a detailed step by step instructional video covering all aspects of how to properly inject.

On another note, posting a little reminder/challenge now and then that the Forum relies on donations to continue to exist might help current members to dig into their pockets.

In fact, if I wanted to make a new contribution I don't know where to go.

I have been injecting for nearly four years.
My first step to determine if trimix injections will work for me was to get injected by my urologist. I was anxious to see if he had prescribed the best way to get erections again. I was nervous and prepared to endure a lot of pain from the needle pushed into my little willy.
I was surprised that the little bit of pain from the injection was way easier to accept. He then left the room and said he would be back in 10 minutes.
When he returned, he saw that I had a moderate erection, but an erection nevertheless. He explained that I had passed the initial test for the use of trimix. He told me that he used a standard formula, and I should 1.) alternate the injection from left side to right side, and 2.) do not exceed injections more than 3 times a week. and 3.) begin with a small dose, and only increase dose slowly until the results are satisfactory.

I drove home from the doctors office that evening with an erection and a smile.

Here are some things that I think would be helpful to address in a training/information presentation.

1) A coherent explanation of injection units, micrometers, etc. If it were geared toward guys who have zero familiarity with the metric system, that would be good. I notice that several threads on this site are exercises in miscommunication because the posters are either not speaking the same measurement language or do not understand it. A visual showing a syringe and its units would be good.

2) Good information on the range of trimix formulas. I have never been able to completely figure this out, in part because my prescription (pap 75 mg, phen 2.5 mg, PGE 50 mg) seems vastly different from the other formulae sometimes mentioned on this site.

3) Something to temper excessive worry about priapism, especially by new users. My understanding is that during the 2-to-5 hour range, if the penis has slightly softened and is not cold to the touch, then there is probably not a problem. My understanding may be wrong. But a coherent explanation, perhaps with visuals of a true priapism penis vs. one that is going to be just fine, would be a great service.
