I have Florida Blue (Blue Cross Blue Shield). My surgery was covered, minus the deductible & co-pay. My out of pocket cost was $1,100.00.

Don,
I had Medicare and Federal BCBS of Alabama when Milam did my surgery last year. I had already paid my annual deductible by the time of the surgery so all costs were paid by Medicare/BCBS for the surgery/hospital/doctors, etc.

FlaDon: Did you check to see if Dr. Perito was covered under Fla. Blue? How pleased are you with your doctor and results? Thanks.

I did Trimix injections for 2 years. As stated they suck, they worked for most of that time but the still suck. Gotta stick yourself with a needle, not too painful but it sucks getting the mind around sticking such a sensitive area. You need to time them right and it breaks the mood. They last for hours so forget a quickie, having sex is now a major production.

I don't have my implant yet, I am waiting on the pre auth from the insurance but I am looking foward to having the ability to have a quickie when the mood hits, or the marathon session depending on the mood.

Federal BCBS here and Perito's office verified coverage with them already. Not sure if Florida blue would be different.

No, I never checked to see if Perito would have been covered. Dr. Dineen came with high praise from some of the other specialists I had seen, and was close by. I had watched many, many videos of the procedure by many doctors, and just didn't feel great with what I saw when watching Perito. I talked at length with Dineen and his assistant, Tom, and felt very comfortable with their experience and skills.

As for satisfaction with the results, I am extremely pleased. I'll admit the first six weeks were challenging, and I went through the "what the hell have I done" phase. But I was told to expect it, and they were only a phone call away from any questions or problems that I had, or any other concerns. Dr. Dineen is a very experienced surgeon, renowned authority on implant procedures, and does over 100 implants a year.

FlDon: You said you had second thoughts or wondered what the hell you had done. Did you have above average pain or complications?

Fladon,
I have read several posts detailing how "painless" and generally easy this surgery is -- like this testimonial from Perito's web site: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XD8ATLickbU calling it PAINLESS.

Then, there are those who got into it and wondered for the first few weeks, "what the hell have I done". So what you are saying is that it's Pretty Rough Stuff! This leaves me wondering what really to expect from two vastly different opinions. Is it the doctor that makes the difference or what?

What should a person really expect?

Thanks

According to both my doc and Coloplast, after two weeks one should be quite painless. I'm now nearly three weeks and the pain is still there. Better but sometimes very sore.

It's impossible to predict how the healing process will go for any particular individual. We're all different and we all heal differently and have different pain thresholds. In my case, I had some pain the first day home, which was controlled by prescribed Oxycodone, and some discomfort for the next several days, which was controlled by Tylenol and ice packs. I would rate my recovery as very easy (as compared with, for example, my open heart surgery). It's possible that somebody else might characterize it as agonizing, if they have a lower pain threshold or whatever. It's my impression that lots more here describe their recovery as easy than as very difficult, for what that's worth. IMO, fear of discomfort is not a rational reason to avoid getting an implant if you need one.
