I had my Coloplast Titan implanted yesterday with Dr. Perito. I opted for spinal anesthesia with a local pain block. I was in ignorant bliss for the first 12 hrs or so until the block wore off then the pain set in! Lots of pain meds in the hospital night one.
They removed the JP Drain today and that hurt a bunch more than I thought it would, a nasty burning pain as it came out. Don't even get me started on how it hurt as the rounding doc deflated me half way, not so much from the squeezing, but again burning type pain as he squeezed the fluid back to the reservoir. Overall it was a good experience and the nurses were very attentive and prompt with pain meds or ice when I asked.
I am back at the hotel now with my trusty ice bag and some Tylenol onboard and the narcotics as backup if needed. Dr. Perito said it could not have gone better, I guess I will get more info at my post op appt Monday.
Dr Perito is quite the colorful character as others have noted, and hell the wife and I actually enjoyed his blunt way of putting things and his off color sense of humor (I think it matched mine lol)

I'm glad it went well. Take it slow and let the doctor know if there are any complications. Best wishes.

Your pain story casts a suspicious light on Perioto's web site testimonial from a guy who reported a painless procedure with Perito. http://www.peritourology.com/testimonials/

You can't predict your discomfort level based on the accounts you read here or elsewhere. Everybody's case is different, everybody's pain threshold is different, and everybody heals differently. Discomfort can range from minimal to severe, I think with most men hovering toward the lower end of the scale (my recovery was quite easy, for example). You're not going to know how yours is going to go until you do it, but fear of discomfort is not a good rationale for putting off the surgery if you need it. Even if you are uncomfortable, it will get better quickly and you'll have a working penis.

Re: It's Done...Day one Post Op
A lot of my pain came from the fact that I could not pee post op. The local block had everything numb from my waist to my thighs. When I realized how long it was since I emptied my bladder I called the nurse who straight cathed me removing a liter of urine which improved my discomfort a bunch. There was pain when the block wore off and Dr. Perito told me there would be. He said the pain is worse in younger people, I don't know why.
Day two, I had a lot of swelling and discomfort from the swelling, I made it worse I think by going to the hotel lobby for breakfast and sitting on a rather hard chair for the meal. I was miserable by the time the meal was over, the way I felt when I woke up I thought it would be a Tylenol day but after sitting on that hard chair I took a pain pill and started icing when I got back to the room. I am feeling pretty good now since the ice brought down the swelling and will probably take a dose of Tylenol next.
I will detail the first night pain a bit here just to clarify a few points, as a nurse I think I should have realized some of this a bit earlier but I missed it somehow.
The beginning of my pain started when I felt a lot of pressure in my lower abdomen and incision area this pressure steadily increased and seems to spread throughout the area. When I sat up the pressure increased by at least double, the feeling of fullness made me realize I had not voided. When they cathed me my pain went immediately from a 7 to a 2.
Once the block wore off I started to get pain in the head of my penis, kind of a burning/throbbing pain. I figured this was normal and asked for pain meds. I was able to pee by this point and I noticed on one of my trips to the bathroom that the elastic band from the jock strap they had me in was right on the head of my penis and a lot of the gauze they had placed around me had been moved from when they cathed me and me going to the bathroom. This area looked red and irritated so I got some new gauze and rolled it up on ether side of my penis placed a piece over the head. The combination of the rolls holding the elastic away and the piece covering the head relived the pain/pressure and I was finally able to sleep. This is something else I think I should have realized earlier but I guess my diagnostic skills were a bit off being a patient

I did see that video, I do not think he really meant "painless" It is impossible to cut into someone and implant something foreign in the body with zero pain.
My experience so far is that the pain is pretty tolerable except for a few instances I detailed above. I imagined the pain would be a lot worse than it was.

As pointed out earlier, pain is not too predictable from case to case. The first several times I received an implant, the pain would have knocked an elephant to it's knees. I always had extraordinary levels of pain, bruising, sweling and complications. This last surgery from Dr. Milam resulted in almost no pain, swelling and bruising. I couldn't believe it.
Congratulations on your bionicized status.

Thanks everyone, Day 3 is a pretty good day I started off with just Tylenol but took a pain pill about an hour before my post op appt just because I did not know what they would do to me. They fully deflated me which makes peeing a lot easier now . The 3 1/2 hour car ride home was a bit rough sitting so long but it's done.
I have a follow up in a couple of weeks for my first full inflation, gonna save some pain pills for that.
So Dr. Perito told me he put in 22cm cylinders with a 1cm rear extension. He said it could not have gone better and that I am going to be very happy so I am hopeful on size.

Re: It's Done...Day one Post Op
Wow, that seems soon for a full inflation but I guess every situation is different. I had to wait 8 weeks until the urologist inflated it. Maybe it was 6 weeks and 8 until I could use it. I think the worse of it all is when they put the catheter BACK in because I could not pee and they would not let me leave until I did. Then they had to take it out and I screamed! The recovery went well after the first few days so it sounds like you will be good to go soon. Just take it easy and use lots of ice!
