Urologist himself has an Implant.

Dear brothers,
I'm new to frank talk and currently educating myself on a possible implant in the future.
My question is: Does anyone know of any urologist who himself has a penile implant? If so, what is his experience of an implant?
Reason I asked this is because i had a bad experience with an urologist who suggested a crural ligation surgery and I went for it only to find out it damaged my condition further.

Well, the point is that if the uro himself has an implant then obviously he has not installed it himself but some other surgeon did. So having an implant doesn't guarantee being a "good urologist"

Danny you sure have a point. however i was interested in a urologist personal experience with having an implant. cause lots of urologists push implants onto patients for business and research reasons.
Anyone else, please comment.

I totally agree. ONe reason I like my eye doctor is that she is almost as blind as I am and knows what I'm talking about when I say "fuzzy". Ha Ha

I'm pretty sure at least one of our members is a doctor, but not a urologist. Sometime in the last few months he posted his own complete story, and seemed much more knowledgeable than the average guy.

I had asked my uro whether he would get an implant himself if everything else fails. Well, no answer is an answer...

Short answer is yes. One in Dallas area who does implants but not in the numbers of the one who did his implant.

I am an internist that had an AMS CX in April with Dr Kramer. Tried everything first since no one knows what will happen as surgical result statistics are about everyone else. Reality post op good or bad is what happens when you have the surgery and you are stuck with it. No promises.

I had a hard time (pun intended) getting the many fellow docs I saw to aggressively manage my ED issues because I hadnt had prostate surgery or diabetes etc but rather a nerve injury as a teen that coupled with venous leak got progressively worse with age. You are getting older Bill was the best they could do. I had to force the issue with my docs as many of them evidently hadnt lived with serious ED and none had an implant or they would have pushed forward faster. With my wife's support I made the decision that an implant was the way I was going to get better and worth the risk of surgery however small the risk is.

I feel a bit guilty posting about my experience being so good since many of the fellow bionic men here are posting about problems. The reality is that most implantees have an uneventful recovery with very tolerable discomfort and a penis that gets hard and functional on command. Wish I hadnt waited so long but then I wouldnt have appreciated it as much I guess. I stay on the forum to let people know that I would do it again in a heartbeat and that it was no big deal. Most implantees would also say the same thing even if they have moved on and are starting to take their implant for granted so not on this forum any more. Good luck with the research and if it is correct for you get a high volume surgeon you like and just do it. I would recommend at least consulting with Andrew Kramer in Baltimore. I watched his videos and his surgical technique and was impressed. I spoke with him by phone when he called me in followup to an email from me and I was sold. He did the surgery and I am very grateful.

Well stated, and thanks for posting. I did it over and over again until it was done right. So yes, I would and have done it again in a heartbeat.

My second and fourth surgeons had implants and even did show & tell if you ask. I found that to be very reassuring when I was in the curious and apprehensive stage of the game. In fact, having seen just how successful this procedure can be, is what gave me the courage to keep trying.

Don't get me wrong, a few of my implants were spectacular when done, but I've had a couple of device failures, infection, and a couple of incompetant surgeons. The first surgeon damaged me in such a way that everyone else has been trying to fix his screw up. It seems that the MOST important thing you can do to ensure a happy outcome is to get a great surgeon.

If you are a VA patient, I would fight them until they approve going to a private facility with one of the top surgeons.
