The only reason I'd prefer pills to an implant (and I have been using plenty of pills but have no implant) is if the feeling of sex with implant was inferior to the feeling of sex with a blood-induced erection.
Is it?
In response to the above question, sex with an implant is better for me sensation and general experience wise because I am not paying attention to the erection or decreasing erection possibility with pills and can concentrate on the feeling. No stress. I dont have any decrease in the enjoyable feeling of an erection.

Re: If pills worked - would you have preferred that over implant
In terms of just the sensation of orgasm with an implant vs pills (if they work) there is little difference, maybe a little bit better which is a positive. But, as Billb pointed out, the whole experience is just so much better with an implant for all the reasons he said and also from what you have already discovered about using pills that the implant wins hands down, in my opinion that is. Of course everyone has their own experiences and opinions and no one can offer you a guarantee, not even your surgeon, but the odds of a successful procedure and greatly enhanced sex life are greatly in your favour.

merrix wrote:I would be very interested to hear why! Implant obviously gives a super hard, on-demand erection. Assuming pills gave a good, natural erection - the spontaneousity definitely wouldn't be there.
So what is it about the implant that makes you prefer pills (if they worked)? Looking very much forward to your reply. Thanks in advance.
I dunno, Merrix...I'm kinda weird that way...something about lying on an operating table waiting for a doctor to open up my genital area, waking up in pain, the recovery time, walking with a cane for a week, etc., just didn't appeal to me.

Well, I understand that's a big issue for a lot of people. Personally, I don't mind it at all. I can do whatever it takes, suffer all the pain in the world. Just as long as I fix this the problem of making excuses to friends etc - I don't care.
Just as long as the result is good.
I have decided to go for it now. Tried a few times now after my sclero with only the 5 mg daily Cialis (no 100 mg Viagra pre-sex). It was a disaster every time. It gets hard but starts fadimg off within a couple of minutes and is limp as an empty plastic bag within 5 minutes.
With the Viagra I can do a quickie with minimum foreplay and good in-and-out action from start to finish. And stat hard all the way. But that's not good enough. I'll do the implant most likely in February, but hopefully already in December.

Sounds like its a good move for you then. I hear Dr. Eid is one of the best. For me, the pills worked at first, then it was hit or miss, mostly miss. Viagra gave me a fierce headache. I had to take two extra-strength Tylenol caps with them. I'm glad I did the implant.
Just curious: Are you paying out of pocket or do you have any health insurance coverage? Sorry if you answered this already somewhere.

I'm sure it's the right decision. If everything goes well that is.
On the other hand, a decision made with all risks taken into account can't be judged wrong just because the outcome was unfavorable. Decisions must be judged on a calculated risk-reward ratio known before the outcome is known.
I had my first bad experience with pills for some time yesterday. It just confirms that the sclero was no magic cure. It made an improvement, but going from crap to bad is not enough.
I am not american. I am from a northern European country but have been working in Asia for many years and still do. I have no insurance cover for this and will be paying Eid's top prices 100% out of my own pocket. Including business tickets from the other side of the planet and hotel for 10 days in NY. I don't care about the cost as long as a I can afford it - which I can. I am just thankful that I have been able to save enough over the years to afford this.
Normally I say that money can't buy happiness. Maybe this is the exception to that rule.
Just hoping that it will give me the results I expect.

Congratulation on your decision. It is a big step and there are always uncertainties in any procedure. These are the things I kept in mind when I was counting down the days to implant day.
I had tried everything there was to try, for years and years.
Repeated failures left me sad and feeling useless and I didn't want to feel that way anymore.
It was starting to affect my marriage of almost 25 year and I did not want to jeopardize that
The infection rate, my biggest worry, was very low and was a risk in any procedure. There were protocols in place to deal with that problem if it arose and it was worth the risk. 1 or 2 cases in a 100 were pretty good odds.
The doctor, as he should have, said that there was no going back. This was the final treatment. I said to him, go back to to what? It already doesn't work and hasn't for a long time. What is there to go back to? It can't get any worse. There is nothing to lose and everything to gain.
After surgery it was important for me to keep in mind why I chose the surgery, although to be honest I never felt any regret. I have enough experience with surgeries to know that things take time to heal. I read a lot of comments on this site and found that any issues I had turned out to be minor and common and resolved just as others said they would. After 6 months our sex life has improved hugely, my frame of mind has improved significantly and I would fight tooth and nail to get a replacement ASAP if it ever became necessary. And like almost everyone else, I wish I had done it so much sooner. But then maybe I wouldn't appreciate it as much as I do now.
I don't know your situatiion, but if only a bit of my experience applies to you, you have much to look forward to, and not just in the sex department. Good luck with it!

Re: If pills worked - would you have preferred that over implant
Most of what I'll say I've said on FT many times before. If you are interested, I just submitted a lengthy post under "If you had it to do again". Also, I'll note that dg moore always has some really good posts that I can identify with. My comment? Natural is always better, except when it's not. Ha. I think we have a tendency to get spoiled about sex. Inconveniences or complications when I was younger seem, in retrospect, pretty trivial. Pills and injections are what I'm thinking of. I took the pills for 9-10 yrs. It started to become a bit inconsistent. Cost was not a problem, because I found a dealer in Canada that priced at $4 a pill. But when you experience failure a few times, it starts to mess with your confidence, and things can get worse. Started with the trimix (inject). Loved it. Only on it for about a year. Complications. Peyronies. My uro suggested an implant. Went 1500 mi, Fla, to get it. If pills worked, I'd absolutely stay with them. If Injections worked (even if I knew it was only going to be a year) I'd stay on them. There are definitely plus's to the implants. Hard forever, no wait, no planning with injectors or pills. Also negatives. 1500 mi? No big deal. Some pain for a few weeks? No big deal. Some awkwardness, sometimes. It was obvious last week in the hosp for another surgery, and had to have a catheter. Oh, well. About 40% of the guys experience size loss, some significant. I'm one. 1 1/2 in. Maybe less than 40% lose size, but unless you're really well endowed right now, it's something to consider. Even with the size loss, it "can" be a good thing. My lady was able to orgasm three times in little over an hour today, because it's perpetually hard. so there are trade offs. I would stay natural as long as I could perform well at least 95% of the time. Luck to ya.
Re: If pills worked - would you have preferred that over implant
Thanks Kidder. Good and very readworthy post.
I think I agree with you in all you say except the injections. Never tried them so I don't know what I am missing. But I don't want to use them. Even if they worked, i just don't want that.
Agree with pills. If they had worked 95% of the time, I'd be happy with them. Assuming sex twice a week, that would mesn one failure in 10 weeks. 5 failures per year. In my case I'd say they 'work' (as in making me stay 100% hard from start to finish) 50% of the time.
So implant it is.
Size loss would be bad but a risk I take. I'm 6.5 inches today and if I'd end up at 6 with everything else gone well, I'd be very happy.
