implant removed

Postby infinite19 » Tue Dec 29, 2015 1:02 pm

I had a implant put in back in 2011 and I was never pleased with it about 6 weeks ago it had to be removed it eroded thru my urea and the tip was sticking out where I pee I am far worse off now than if I had never had it installed.
Before I could get a erection at times now there is no hope that I will ever get another one.
If I was you guys thinking about having one put in I would think long and hard before I had this done .
I only wish some one on here had told me what I am telling you .
I wish I had never heard about a penis implant and sure wish I had not had one put in.
Just my 2 cents worth and my own experience

I am really sorry to here what you have had to go through. I am curious as to whether that was a malleable (bendable type of implant or was it an inflatable one), I have heard that is a possible negative complication of that style? If it was of the malleable type, would you be a candidate for an inflatable option or at this point maybe you feel enough is enough.

In any case, best of luck as you heal from this surgery.

one of the websites I visited said each of the 2 manufacturers of penile implants had sold 300,000 implants world wide. erosion was 1 1/2%. That is 4500 per manufacturer or 9000 total. I cannot imagine there is not a fix, goretex or mucosal tissue i would think, to take care of this. If 9000 people had an issue with a medical device FDA would have demanded a way to deal with it or taken them off the market. Erosions if I recall were listed as being through glans, urethral or pump through the scrotal skin. I understand wanting to make sure the urethra is healed before installing an new implant. You want no risk of infection in the cavernosa from urethral contamination. d

As others have mentioned urethral erosion was not uncommon in non inflatable or rigid implants when they were first placed and occasionally over sized. Distal erosion is very rare in inflatable implants since typically they are not left inflated all day so the skin has a chance to get adequate blood flow and have a rest.
