trying to rationalize that going for an implant is a good de

Postby edzo67 » Tue Jan 12, 2016 3:01 am

im 48 years old and over the last 3 years my sex life has been pretty much non existent. it has caused tremendous mental anguish and many sleepless nights as well as severe depression and strain on my marriage. i have lost almost a 1/3 of my penis size and the ability to have enjoyable sex. the peyronies continues to progress and change, taking a turn of a 30 degree downward bend to about a 45 degree or more upward bend over the last 2 years as well as hourglassing and lost length and sensation. i look down at my junk and cant believe that this is now what i am. feeling like i went to sleep and woke up with somebody elses junk in its place. ive tried to remain optimistic that science my develop a way to cure my condition. even if that were to happen?? it would be tied up in FDA approval process for so long that i would need to wait another 5 plus years for treatment. i dont think my mind can withstand very much more of this. i dont think my marriage will survive my insecurities that much longer. i really dont want to risk further deterioration of what left of my manhood. could i live with my decision to completely destroy my natural penis in the event that a cure becomes available in the future. Perhaps if i was still in my 20"s ? i would have the patience to hold out for a breakthough. i cant afford to give another 5 or 10 years to this horrible desease. these are the years i should still be enjoying exciting sex with my wife, while my hips and back can still withstand A LITTLE FREAKYNESS!!
i think about the physical limitations an implant may impose and uncomfortable situations of having to reveal to someone at a doctors office or an xray machine at an airport, that i have an implant in my cock. or perhaps if my marriage fails? hiding it from my next sexual partner. This indeed is not an easy decision for anyone to make...but i would also beat myself up terribly if i let peyronies take away anymore of my penis and push me over the edge of my sanity. all these things are on my mind..unfortunately my wife hasnt been able to be there for me and i am deal with this in a very alone fashion...other than u folks here and on my peyronies forum. its been great to have an outlet to vent and give and recieve support and i thank you very much. im finding it difficult to commit to making a decision.. i should at least book a consultation with a reputable surgeon... anyhow.....FUCK!! Lol

I'm unable to understand you. What is more important to you: what other people might think or a useless dick? What physical limitations are you talking about? Of course if your hobby is climbing through cactus, well that you can't do anymore, the thorns might perforate your implant. X-Ray? With my Titan I went through X-Ray machines, no problem whatsoever.

I went to a doctor recently (it had nothing to do with my implant) and whilst we were talking I mentioned my implant. You should have seen his reaction! He wanted to know everything about it, most likely he has patients who would love having an implant. Or one for himself… "Next sexual partner": tell her beforehand, you can't hide it from her anyway. Unless she is absolutely dumb. I told some ladies about my implant. You know what? All were very impressed with me, some women remarked that every man should have an implant. I mean you can make love to a woman till her vagina starts to smolder :-)

Yokes aside. Make an appointment with one of the top surgeons. Do it asap. Don't try saving money, only go to one of the best, even if is maybe a bit more expansive than the others. In a couple of months time you can have great sex again!

Given that you have peyronies, and given how difficult that is to treat, and also how it can continue to reduce your size and distort your shape over time, I'd say go for an implant. Stop waiting for the magical stem cell or gene therapy cure. It's not coming anytime soon. Even if it did come in five years, so what? You'll still have a bionic dick that works every time, and in the five years in between you were happy because you took the necessary steps to regain functioning. I tirelessly researched and hoped for that big breakthrough that would cure my ED without having to resort to an implant. Then I realized I was living in a fantasy world. The implant is what's available right now, it has been around for 40 years, and the techniques, methods, and materials of the procedure have all improved drastically over time. This is absolutely the best time to get an implant. We men with ED and/or peyronies are lucky to have some of these incredible doctors who can transform our lives with one operation. 50 or 60 years ago if you had ED the advice would have been, "join a monastery." Now we can do something about it. Unless society collapses, someday we will grow penis tissue in labs, and that will be another incredible advance, but for now just think of how lucky we are to have this opportunity.

I totally agree with Clab . I also have Peyronie and am contemplating the implant. Peyronie's is a devastating disease , we must assume and fight it and if it means an implant later. find a good doctor in Peyronie . Regards.

Most of us Peyronies guys know that each case is unique. We don't all have the same side effects and distortion/size loss. I also wonder.... Given that my penis shows an inability to heal itself normally? What kind of trauma is caused by having an implant installed? Can it or will it further scar my penis to the point where I lose another 2" because of its healing malfunction? As an example. I had received a single round of verapamil injections( in the wrong area of my penis where there wasn't any previous scarring) and over the next couple months? That area of the injections began to scar and no longer expand to its normal size. Is this what I may run into? That would be devastating to completely destroy my penis

I'm in a situation like yours I cling to the idea that the implant will stop the progression of the disease. It would be good that the guys with Peyronie who have had implant em tell their experience. That does your urologist implant ? ,

edzo67: Maybe I don't understand correctly your current sexual ability. But if I do, then I don't really understand your hesitation. To me it seems you really don't have anything to lose. Waiting for a magic treatment to come along seldom works.
Picking a reliable existing solution which delivers known and good-enough results from right now is almost always better.

Good luck.

I understand his position.
Years ago I had shoulder surgery. Dr did a lousy job. After awhile I had it done over. 2nd guy did a good job. Still hurts but much less.

I have ED. If I get the implant that is it. No turning back.
You might lose length. Could lose some feeling. Always have it sticking out. Other issues
Yeah, I know implants do have good points. Like I can stay up as long as I want. I am ready anytime.

Personally I have been told 2X already not to get the implant. My long time urologist told me that I would not be happy.
He also told me that I would be "mutilated". Pretty strong word. He is a good Dr, conservative and practical.
Told me he has people coming in all the time with problems from implant. He will not touch them. He says nothing he can do.

I am trying to wait to see when shock wave therapy becomes available in the U..S.
I know shock wave therapy does not help everyone.
I don't know if it can help Peyronie's disease.

I do know that if it does not work I still have the option for going for the implant.

Hey Edzo,

It's not easy being implanted, I went through all the same issues and doubts you had about an implant but had to deal with it at 17. All I can say is that I can't imagine what life would have been like not having it now (I am 44 and about to go for my 4th replacement in a month and a half). You are not destroying your natural penis (sounds like that is already happening all on it's own) you are putting in a device that will allow you to have constant solid erection. You are fixing your health problem with what is available to you right now in modern medicine. Sure you can wait for the next thing to come along but like you said it may take many many years before your fixed and your problems both physical and mental can get worse by then.

Also at your age I don't think there is any reason to be insecure about an implant if you are with someone new. Trust me in my 26 years of having one I have NEVER been rejected by a partner because of it.

At the end of the day at least look into it and talk to a specialist about it.
