update on my "interesting situation"

Postby rglassva » Thu Jan 14, 2016 2:18 pm

As many of you know, I went into surgery for an implant on 8/26/15 and woke up in recovery with the doc standing over me saying he was not able to get one in, too much scar/fibrotic tissue and he could not dilate the corpora cavernosa enough to get the cylinders inserted. At doc's suggestion I went to a plastic/reconstructive surgeon he recommended - her only option for me was a whole new penis made out of forearm tissue and other stuff - no thanks. I then went to a urologic reconstructive surgeon (Dr. McCammon) in Va. Beach (about 95 miles from me) in early November and he gave me hope - there's a chance he might still be able to get the job done, by carving out the fibrotic tissue and maybe doing some grafting. Told me to use my vacuum pump every day for at least 10 minutes in hopes of stretching/loosening some of the scar/fibrotic tissue. Went back this week for follow-up and he thinks he could feel/see some improvement so told me to continue to pump as much as 20 minutes a day (once or 2X10 minutes) until I go see him in late May and we'll go from there. Lots more to the story but I won't bore you all. . . feel free to contact me if you want to know more. I'm just thankful there's still a chance. Thanks to all who have shown interest in my situation . . . means a great deal. . . . fingers crossed for more good news in a few months. Rick :)

Rick, this sounds promising. Even a little bit of movement is encouraging - keep on pumping, and best of luck to you!

Rick

It was a godsend to seek another opinion with your situation. Hope you get more good news soon!

I mentioned you to my wife on the way home this evening from Vanderbilt. Yesterday I got my implant. They spent 1 hour of the 2 1/2 hour operation carving out the fibrotic tissue on one side. One doc who visited with me said the worked and worked, cut and scraped from 1/3 from base all the way into glans ( his words) 4 doctors actually took turns working on it. It is the one part of this implant I am proud of. Entire penis is brown from bruising and raw skin in a few places. . It is straight on that side now w/o the hourglass shape. Other side he said was a breeze. Been praying for you buddy! d

Forgot to tell you, I pumped mine up until 1 hour before surgery yesterday. the "nice" doctor that visited with me told me that if I would not have pumped that within 3-5 years I would have had a 90 degree bend to the left that would have required a major 6-7 hour reconstruction and likely never be straight after that kind of surgeryhad I not pumped. I noticed it was getting worse faster in the last 8 months. He told me they tend to get worse at an increasing rate and the pumping was the only thing other than an implant to slow the damage. Said fibrosis is just scar tissue that grows where there is poor blood supply as scar tissue dose not require much blood like regular tissue. Again, good luck and hugs. d

So last night I had a dream that I got an implant. . . as I was waking up from the surgery the docs were there but no one was talking to me and then I was sorta whisked away on some sort of conveyor belt that was taking me out to the hospital entrance so I could leave. . . . as I was traveling on this "monorail" in my hospital bed. . . there were these "billboards" along the way telling me what I'd gotten. . . first one looked like it said I got one of the semi-rigid malleable ones but as I moved further along there was another board that showed a picture with cylinders and some sort of pump so I figured I must've gotten one of the inflatable ones. . . never got to see it on me (not sure why I didn't look down but I guess it woulda been all wrapped up anyway) - then I woke up. . . . maybe this is a sign???? A good sign????? Funny what we dream sometimes, huh?

Went to see Dr. McCammon yesterday - after my appointment in January he asked me to use my VED pump 20 minutes a day - either once for 20 or twice for 10. . . I've probably averaged 5 days per week. So the news after yesterday was not totally positive but not bad either. . . .he said he could kick himself for not measuring in January but did so yesterday. . . length definitely nothing to write home or here about but his bigger concern is the girth. . . as it stands now, he doesn't think there's enough space (especially just under the glans) to get cylinders in - he's even proposed just one cylinder but isn't sure that could work either. I told him that when I do use the pump, especially for a 20 minute session, my little guy does get quite girthy (relatively speaking of course) and even rather girthy in that area of concern - he was encouraged by that. So he wants me to continue with the pumping and come back in 2 months - and wants me to bring my pump with me so I can show him how plump it gets . . . that will be interesting :o . . . At that point we will decide to "fish or cut bait" assuming he tells me there's a good chance he can do something - don't want a repeat of last summer . . get in there and THEN decide it's not doable. So happy pumping to me until June 14!
