First time cycling
First time cycling
So I had the the AMS 700 CX implanted 2-1/2 weeks ago and am just starting to feel like I can squeeze the pump bulb without too much pain. But when I try, it is so hard it feels like I'm trying to squeeze a rock! I've read a couple guys posts on here about that and I know they eventually figure it out but can someone tell me what I should be feeling? How hard to squeeze? How to get it started? I know how to deflate. That has not been a problem. I just don't feel like I am really pumping up properly. It doesn't seem like it is doing much. Any help would be appreciated.
Problems began in 2011 at 51 yo. I did testosterone/HCG/Anastrozole but it didn't fix erections. Pills and tri-mix worked then failed. Had AMS 700 CX installed on Feb 2nd 2016 by Dr. Thomas Walsh at University of Washington.
Re: First time cycling
I think this is something that just takes time in a lot of cases. The pump was very hard for me at the beginning for at least a week, and it's still not what I would call easy to pump up. I have been dealing with a lot of intense soreness in the early days of inflating too, so try to do too much too soon, or think that you as soon as you are cleared for inflating, you are ready for rough and prolonged sex. It's a long process.
Re: First time cycling
I have a different implant (Titan) but here is my experience:
Pumping was definitely different from the betinning (2 weeks post op) compared to now (10 weeks post op).
In the early days I could not squeeze the pump wall-to-wall. Only partially. That meant I needed around 50 pumps to full inflation while today I need around 30. The first 10-20 pumps are true wall-to-wall complete squeezes, while as the last ten get gradually harder and the last few pumps I can barely compress the bulb.
However, even though the pump was hard in the beginning when I started pumping eight weeks ago, I never had any problems to pump. It just required more squeezes.

Re: First time cycling
Hold the pump with one hand right where the lines go into the block. Pump with your dominant hand. The first pump should be quick and sharp.
Re: First time cycling
I found that it was easier to pump while in the shower. The hot water seemed to loosen stuff up.
Re: First time cycling
Hey thanks guys. I have been pumping in the shower and I think I actually get some inflation but it's so hard to tell. But then it seems obvious afterward when I press the deflate valve and it all comes rushing out. Even makes noise. The wife can even hear it. I guess it just takes practice. Still a little sore and bruised down there which doesn't make it easy. Sharp and quick pumps...ok. No way we can bust these things right? Lol!

I have an AMS CX. Pumping was quite difficult at first but got better with time. Then came developing an approach that would make the process go more smoothly. After a while I got the hang of it (pardon the pun) and now pumping itself is routine, like a boxer taping up his hands before putting on his boxing gloves.

Sharp and quick for the first pump only.... After that slow and steady.
Re: First time cycling
I have an AMS also. I find it pumps different every time. Doc Wednesday had same issue. If it is hard, I push the release very hard and try to squeeze more fluid out of the penis and try again. Sometimes it will pop ( you will feel it) and then pump. Sometimes that does not work so I squeeze like HELL on the pump bulb ( doc used that same method). It will SLOWLY squeeze. After about 3 pumps, then I will try the release valve and squeeze fluid out of the penis again. Always then I will feel a buzz as fluid is going to the reservoir, then try the bulb again and it will pop. Works every time when I have to do that but it is very hard to squeeze the bulb to get it to the point you can squeeze some back. If it gets hard while pumping, then I move the pump and tubing around and move penis back and forth. They told me that may be necessary in the hospital to get kinks out of the tubing. I've found pulling the pump straight out at about the 3:30 position seems to help most. I usually have to do that quite a few times till about the 140th pump, then I can pump mostly non stop from then on. Sometimes I found when it will not pump that I can move my finger and thumb position 1/4 turn on the bulb and squeeze again, then it will get hard, then go back 1/4 turn to my original position and it will pump fine again. I have to admit mine is not right. Doc said 20 to 30 pumps should make it hard as a rock, enough to hang a towel on it and not bend. I almost always pump 140 minimum to close to 200. Wednesday morning we pumped it to 300 and stopped as the perineal area had elongated so much the cylinders were VERY bowed out. At this point I have to think some fluid is going in the cylinder and some bypassing the valve to get that many pumps as it is not possible for the reservoir to hold that many pumps of fluid. Yes, I do squeeze to bulb collapse. You might try some of the things I found to work. Best of luck sir.

BASICALLY IN THE SAME BOAT AS U. HOPEFULLY NEXT WEEK IT WILL GET BETTER.
