He put the catheter back in and the pain has been terrible. I was unable to Pee and when he did a sonogram he found I had so much pee left in my kidneys that I was in danger of doing damage. In went the catheter. I have been really depressed. Then the pain of growing hair as well is excruciating. I'm don't want to complain but how many guys have had the catheter in place for two weeks? I can't wait for tomorrow when hopefully he will remove it for good.
Also I have trouble standing for more than a minute or so. I can not sit in a chair except for my recliner. I go Fromm my bed to my chair. I start out every morning with a hot bath which provides comfort and relief. A good 30 minute soak really helps.
I'm trying to refrain from the painkillers and am taking them sparingly. I suppose time heals all. Sorry for my sporadic updates. It's difficult some days to think clearly and then write it down. I'll try and report tomorrow after my uro visit.

Papou, I've never heard of the kind of issues you are presenting. Most of us had the catheter in place for just 24 hours or so.

TAKE THE PAINKILLERS. That's what they're for. Good luck--and please keep us informed.

I had my catheter in for 5 days. Boy, was I bummed! The time goes by extremely quickly once it is out but very slowly while it is in. Hang in there.

Also, it is proven that the body heals FASTER when you are not in pain. The body doesn't have to divert so much of its energy to give numbness and relief. So stay ahead of the pain and take the pills before you need it. I felt the same way and couldn't wait to get to the point that I didn't need it any more. That's a good thing for both of us as we will never have to worry about being addicted to the stupid things.

I have a suggestion. May not apply to you as I am odd. I cannot pee if I take meds that contain Tylenol. the Codeine boosts the Tylenol and makes it worse. At one time I thought my bladder would explode before the tylenol wore off so I could pee. It's not a good thing. Misery at it worst. MOST of the pain meds they use contain tylenol. acetimeniphen ( sp) is the generic name. Doc said not possible. 2 pharmicists said not on the label and not heard of it. Doc believed it when it wore off and I could pee, then we tried Tylenol alone and I could not pee again. This was in 2012. Hope things improve for you. In 2009 I had a catheter for 2 weeks. I've figured out my urethra was burning from the betadine they smeared on the catheter when they put it in Jan 13th. It took 3 weeks before it was not miserable sore. Some docs do not do that. DonBecker had the same pain. I am sure it was the same reason.Same doc did his, Milam.

Alibaba may have something. Many people here write about Codeine causing Constipation so why not.. Maybe Advil??
Little surprised that Uro did not deflate you a little to see if that helped. Also surprised hospital let you go before first pee. My first was difficult as I had a lot of pain where catheter had been - Very much Mind over Matter to get the first one!
I had Catheter in for almost a week after Prostate surgery due to nobody available over holiday period. But having it 're-inserted' AND based on what they just put in your body I can only feel very sorry for you. Hopefully all will rapidly recover after they remove it. Keep us updated.
btw - on my earlier responses about supporting the balls in the underwear to relieve pain I used the word 'lint'. Maybe 'Gauze' would be better to have used.
Excuse my British "accent"..

:D Well this morning I woke up. Peed through the catheter into the toilet and took a shower, after which I sat in a hot bath for 30 minutes. Then my beautiful wife packed me into the car and drove us to the uro. I was starting to get freaked out about having to learn self catheterization and shit like that. Nurse removed the catheter and told me to pee. Couldn't do more than a few dribbles.
She sent me lunch and said go to eat and try to pee. Walk around and see if you can urinate. I came back and was unable to pee. So she gave me a fresh bag of catheter sand sent us on our way. My instructions were try to pee on my own but if necessary self catheterize. ( I knew there wasn't a chance in hell that I would do that) s I said ok and left.
This evening I came home, drank a glass of water, stood in the shower and peed like a racehorse!!! (well not really. That hasn't been since I was 18)
Tomorrow is two weeks. I'm now on my way to a full recovery. (And a boner like none other). I'll let you all know what happens tomorrow.

Very well sir! Glad I did not have to reply well bugger it. Reminds me of our son when he was very young. Maybe 7 or 8 . We farmed ground under the interstate with all traffic watching. One day caught him standing on the top of a truck load of seed shooting a stream to see how far he could pee. Pee like a boy. :D Be well sir and Cheers.
