Can't inflate past where implant was after surgery
Re: Can't inflate past where implant was after surgery
DonBecker54, I am sorry you are having so much trouble. Maryann is satan's sister. I do not know what Milam's issue is but it is a severe condition. I've certainly met friendlier autistic people. If you have problems getting your records I can send you alternative phone numbers and fax numbers that I had to use to finally get mine. Do not expect much. My record only had AMS LGX 21cm and no other measurements or information about the implant. The most incomplete surgical record I have ever seen and I have several file boxes full of mine. My record was only 1 1/2 pages long once I take out the 4 pages requesting the records, the list of meds I take and the post op instruction sheet which was different from what they had on line and different from the one they gave me at the hospital. I've never had so much trouble getting my records before either. We may both be getting an attorney before it is over. I'm in no favor of doing so, but some way it needs to be made clear that they cannot continue to do this to people. I am hoping it is a simple fix for you. One night I almost felt like whacking mine with a hammer it got so frustrating then the next minute is will squeeze like a nerf ball. Today I was sore eating Advil all day from spending right an an hour pumping it. It is still red from it tonight.

Re: Can't inflate past where implant was after surgery
alibaba, I record all of my important phone conversations. I record calls with customers, with suppliers, with banks, and anyone else who can cause me problems. I don't record calls with friends or family.
I didn't record my calls with MaryAnn, and I'm kicking myself. If this went to court, those recordings would be damning for her and for Vanderbilt.
My first call to her was the morning of January 22nd, eight days after surgery. My pump had been in the rear where Dr. Milam had placed it, and where I found it to be convenient to access, bur during the night it migrated up to the front at the 1:00 position, and felt tangled up. And it hurt. I wanted to know if it was safe to try to move it to the rear again. I called MaryAnn. There was going to be a dusting of snow in Nashville that day, and she just said, "I have to get home before the snow. Don't touch anything". I repeated my question, she again said, "I have to get home before the snow" I didn't get an answer to my question.
Over the weekend I had thought about moving the pump, but I didn't know if the tubes could become tangled with the vas deferens, so I waited and called on Monday. I told MaryAnn again about the pump moving, and expressed my concerns about the location and the potential for pain in everyday activities (it still hurts if I cross my legs, or even when I walk). She ridiculed me, and said no patient had ever had a problem with pump placement. She didn't get an answer to my question about moving it.
I called again on Tuesday, and she said, "Mr. Becker! You have called here every day since your surgery, and you're questioning the procedures Dr. Milan and I have developed over years...yada yada yada." She didn't get me an answer to my question about moving it. It also wasn't true that I'd called every day. I didn't call until the eighth day, and she didn't get me an answer to my question, which is why I called again twice.
On Thursday I found another urologist who would talk to me about this. I asked about the pump moving, and he said that they will often migrate until scar tissue firms up. I asked how long that takes, and he said about two weeks after surgery. It had been two weeks. I wasn't able to move the pump.
Over the next weekend, I developed a pretty large bump in the right side of the right cylinder. I looked all over the internet but couldn't find anything about bumps on implant cylinders, except for information about aneurisms in cylinders. I didn't think that would be the cause, but I think any guy who'd had implant surgery 17 days prior would be concerned about a large bump in one of the cylinders. I called MaryAnn on Monday. She didn't return my call or have Dr. Milam call. I called again on Wednesday, but she didn't return my call, nor did Dr. Milam.
I called one of the patient help specialists at Coloplast, told him about the bump, and then told him about my experiences with trying to get answers. He got red hot mad and called Vanderbilt. I don't know what he said, but Dr. Milam called minutes later to ask what the problem was (which told me that he never got my messages from MaryAnn). He did say that they'd never had a patient call five or six times (so MaryAnn did tell him about that). I told him I had called that many times because MaryAnn wouldn't get an answer for me.
I'm now having the same no-return-call problem with the PA or whatever she is who did the inflation instructions last Wednesday. Two calls over three days, and she hasn't called back to answer my question about not being able to inflate.
If I'd been recording all this, an attorney would have a field day.

Call Coloplast again and let them know what crappy assistance you are continuing to get from the provider of their product. Do they give you a case number each time? AMS gave me a case number months ago when I had discussions over approval. People tell me to call AMS but I have been avoiding it. Last Monday I had planned to but got busy. Maybe tomorrow. I am sure if you could get a copy of the computer screen in front of Maryann you would find she had notes that you have been provided with all the information just like she read off it to my wife and I when she was lying and arguing the 12th of January, the day before surgery. She's a witch. Have you updated the director of urology? I tried to after talking to him before. I could only leave a message. A couple days later I called and the gal that took the message told me "it is likely you will never get him if you keep calling nor ever will get a return call". I was " what the hell?" I do not know when our next lawyer meeting is coming up, it should be in the next few weeks but I certainly intend to throw this out there for discussion. My limit is within a hair of being met.

Re: Can't inflate past where implant was after surgery
I just struggle to even believe your story.
Crazy.
Any doctor who does implant surgery should be able to figure out with their ass that considering the nature of the procedure, many patients will have questions. In some cases about real problems and in some cases about imagined problems. But as the service provider, just expect it, get resourced for it and deal with it.
I still get replies from Dr. Eid within 24 hours every time I contact him on his email or mobile phone. Last time was last friday, 11 weeks after surgery.
He did two visits in my hotel week after surgery. One of them on a sunday, one at 5:30 am before his first surgery on a weekday. And he picked up the phone when I called his personal number at 3 am.
He is unbelievable. But in the opposite way of Milam's way of being unbelievable.
Lesseon is learned for all future implant patients: Stay clear of Milam. Look elsewhere.

Re: Can't inflate past where implant was after surgery
Agreed merrix. I called Milam originally in 2014 because he was hyped up as the best here on FT at the time. Because of that and his secretary calling me several times saying he would like to make an appointment to do the surgery and had NO issues with my other health problems I persisted in making it happen. Other than a couple here telling me they now had the greatest dick on earth thanks to Milam, I never talked to anyone personally who had dealt with Vanderbilt. Vanderbilt told me each doctor is specialized doing one type of surgery and Milam's was penile implants. For all I know at this time, the posters here were dick implant salesmen in Milam's territory. My wife and I thought there mus be some type of personality conflict between us causing a rift. Since there are 3 of us recently ( 2 here) with the same experience within a week of each other with both Milam and Maryann, I cannot feel it was some issue with me only any more. There are not enough good things to say about reasuring doctors who remain in contact, do good work and follow up on issues. I would not go to Vanderbilt for a pimple now. Checking in paperwork and trying to get records proves the rest of the place is a few rungs short of a ladder too. Out of 23 hours there, I can list 8 people I would have fired had they worked for me. Add more for the inefficiency of how the post op ward operates and how many heads set that protocol and they would be gone too. There is no reason for someone to come check your BP, then 30 minute later someone else comes and checks your temperature, then 3o minutes later another comes to check your urine output, Then another to check your O2 level, on and on all night without 20 minutes peace. I have had many surgeries and a lot of hospital stays. Every time a nurse came in they checked everything and left you in peace for 2-3 hours letting the monitors do their job.

Re: Can't inflate past where implant was after surgery
Mr. Becker, would you sir, please pm me the phone number you talked to Coloplast? Since I am being recommended a Titan as a replacement, I would like to talk to someone at Coloplast to answer questions. I also plan on calling AMS tomorrow to discuss this !@$#^ thing I have now. Best of luck to you. If you end up litigating I will assist you any way I can. Clearly they are operating the way they do as a matter of policy rather than one jerk in a sea of wonderful people. Other than the Amerigo restaurant in Nashville, the anesthesiologist ( was real sweet), and the pre surgery consult nurse, I have never met so many incompetent people in such a short period of time in my life nor such a concentration in one area. The night before surgery I told the manager of Amerigo that I had begun to think the entire populace of Nashville were incompetent for some reason. It is very sad.

Re: Can't inflate past where implant was after surgery
alibaba, I'll have to find the phone number. I really had to do a lot of searching on the internet.
There were a lot of other issues with Vanderbilt that surprised me. I was told to be there at noon for a 2 pm surgery. I didn't get called up until about 7 pm. I sat there all that time.
There were a couple of good nurses, and a lot of incompetents. One started to do something (forget what), and I told her she shouldn't be doing that.
I didn't get a room. They kept me on a gurney in some holding area all night because they were out of rooms. That didn't matter to me, though.
MaryAnn should not be dealing with the public at all. She should be in some back room examining stool samples.
I'm not going to criticize Dr. Milam's work, because I don't know at this point that my problem is his fault. It may be a defective implant. He seems to know what he's talking about. I get the impression that his job is surgery, and they don't want him doing much else. Hence MaryAnn.
I've only had one other surgery in my life, which was on my inner ear. The surgeon was fantastic, and took as much time as I needed to answer questions. Very much like Dr. Eid in that respect. In thinking about the two of them, I realized that both own their own practices. They're entrepreneurs, not employees. I think that makes a difference.
If my problem can be fixed with some relatively minor surgery, I'll likely have Milam do it (unless something else rears its head). If I need to have the whole thing done again, I'll go to Eid.

I'm going to make another appointment with the physician's assistant, or whatever she is, who I saw on Wednesday. I'm going to see if she can fully inflate it.
Coloplast also gave me the name of one of their "gold star" urologists in my state. He's 300 miles away at the other end of the state, but if the physician''s assistant can't inflate it, I'll have him troubleshoot it.
If this has to be redone, I'm getting an attorney. If it has to be redone, I want Eid to do it, and I'm not going to pay for it.
I recommend that you get a second opinion from this "gold star urologist" either way. Get your operation report from the facility where your surgery was done right away. By law they have to give you a copy at your request. You might want to make some preliminary inquiries with an attorney. Just a warning: Legal action is NOT for the faint of heart.

Re: Can't inflate past where implant was after surgery
Thank you sir. Things have popped up that I may not get to call today but I will try. I appreciate the help.
In regard to letting Milam do a minor revision on the pump:
My internist gave me the names of 2 patients of his who had several implants each. Both had an initial implant and 2 more revisions from their first doctor who tried to fix his mistakes. I have had more than one, one hour long conversations with both. Both at one point were recommended to have their penis' amputated rather than go on to try to repair them and both ended at the doctor I am seeing in 11 days with a better outcome than their first. My question is why would go back to the same doctor again if things were unsatisfactory the first time? This is serious shit man. Milam may be a skilled surgeon as you say but clearly there are varying levels of skill and especially technique that make a clear difference. Then there is the issue of follow up answering of questions. What if you have an issue that becomes quite serious; life threatening, infection, whatever and the wench on the end of the line brushes you off or does not return your call when you ring her up? Go back and see if they can make it pump, but personally, I feel these people all had their chances to get things right. Some they did I think and some clearly not, but they cannot even keep adequate record enough to figure out what the actually did to make the right part right. There is no mention of it whatsoever in the record but it is clear from feeling around some sort of procedure was done.
