To Stay Overnight Or Not To Stay

Postby Vagabond127 » Tue Mar 29, 2016 4:44 pm

I live in north central Connecticut. 3 hours from Dr Eids office. Dr Eid tells me there is no need to spend the night in NY. Any thoughts??

Dr Kramer did mine and I went to hotel. We took catheter out next morning, no problem. Look at my journey on here. No shot for pain, no drain to remove just catheter and we removed without a problem. Stayed in Baltimore till Sat and drove the 6.5 hours back to NC. I drove for about three hours and future wife drove the balance.

Good luck

Implanted March 2nd by Dr. Kramer with AMS/LGX. Had a problem lower left (scar tissue) and he placed a larger (thicker) implant as you can here on the YouTube video. Got all back, ED over 10 years before Implant.

You don't want to be in car 3 hrs. Painful right after first night

The reason you could be in a car same day as surgery is his spinal anesthesia. It'll still be in play.

I was kept overnight and given IV antibiotics all night long. In addition, I was refereed pain medication, which I accepted until midnight and needed. The next day the catheter and drain were removed. I was discharged around noon and drove home for almost five hours. I am glad I stayed overnight.
I am sixty-six years of age and dealing with gradually worsening ED for twenty years. At sixty-three I wanted something that worked reliably. I got an AMS 700 LGX implant in 6/25/13. I am entirely pleased with the outcome. My surgeon was Dr. Karpman.

Not sure I'd like to be 3 hr drive away from Doctor/Clinic during the night after such surgery. Not saying anything will go wrong but I'd just want the security blanket!

Only insurance requirements could be a reason. If Insurance is not a problem....Go home, don't wait and collect $200 when passing GO. My doctor said I would receive an injection following surgery which would eliminate any pain for 12 hours, after that I would be home and on regular pain pill prescriptions IF NECESSARY. So I checked in at 6:30am, checked out (with injection) at 11:30, traveled home in a four hour drive and zero pain. Once again, zero!

Some soreness here and there but not worth writing home about. I used this doc because of another guy on FT who told the same story. He wasn't lying. Where I come from, they call it a "cake walk"

I had to stay overnight for observation. Not sure what they were observing. No way I could have driven myself. I had an Uber driver for a 2.5 hour ride home. Once home it was straight to bed.

I would recommend an overnight stay, either at a hotel or the hospital. You won't get much sleep regardless, however until the catheter, drain and :"mummy wrap" are removed you really don't know the status of things. If there are complications, you are near an experienced resource.
