I just signed up for the forum and got a note from Paul to post something here. I just had my surgery on July 5th 2011 and am still very apprehensive about the ED. The nice folks at MD Anderson have lead me to believe they got all the cancer and saved one nerve bundle complete and 70% of the other one. Now I just want to get back to normal as much as possible. Paul, road glide refers to the bike i ride. Found the forum just reading and surfing about post prostatectomy. I have not read much yet but look forward to doing so.

Been riding for years. Wife told me to buy the brand new road glide ultra that I was drooling over in march. I looked and read reviews and shopped and finally ordered one in may. Traded in my ten year old ultra classic and finally picked it up about one week before my surgery. Barely got 300 miles on it before I went under the knife. Doc says I cannot ride for 6 weeks. Today is exactly 3 weeks for me. Maybe I will try to push it a little but my wife says just wait. Doesn't want anything to go wrong. I will see how good and how strong I am feeling. It is probably to hot here in Houston anyway. Maybe wait till end of august and head for Colorado.

Congrats on your implant Roadglide. I hope that it will be everything that you had hoped for. I had my AMS LGX installed at the end of December 2010. I'm enjoying it very much. There are a great bunch of guys here who can give you all the answers that you seek. Hope to see you online. Keith

Welcome. It is good to see you are doing well. Your surgery is so recent so congrats on the recovery. This is a good place and there is a lot of experience to assist you in this journey. I'm also PCa with robotic surgery. Since you are doing well this is a good time to begin a penile rehab plan. MD Anderson is a great cancer center and I would suggest you talk with them. I had a brilliant surgeon but he didn't give a dam about erections so I was behind the curve before I found this site. Firstly, I not a medical person so I can only share my experience. Under the treatment section on pumping suggest you consider a "Prelude". It is a soft vac device, not good for sex, but gets blood flowing into the shaft. It's not expensive and is easy and fun to use. It comes in 2 sizes depending on your girth not length. It's reassuring to watch yourself "grow" again thru the clear cylinder. Also suggest you talk with your doc about starting, if you haven't, a pill. Would suggest you skip the 5 mg of Cialis as it almost certainly isn't enough to get you up and going. I've talked with 2 Uro's and the feeling is the 5 mg is not enough to get you up and going after PCa surgery. It certainly didn't work for me although I tried that dose 3 years after my surgery. If you can go to the 20 mg. I am using 20 mg of Cialis or Levitra and having good results. In the beginning the pill may not seem to do much but its function is to begin to re-awaken all the nerves and parts to remember why they exist.

Also, with your doc, in a month or so consider going to a real vac pump. There are 2 different kinds available- the adult toy store kind and the medical pump. Suggest you try the cheaper toy store kind first to see if you like pumping(not everyone does) before you spend the big $$ on a medical pump. I have a medical pump and really believe it has helped me the most to recover pre-surgery length and improve erection quality.

The nice thing about our state is that penile rehab, unlike other rehab programs, is fun! Your sex drive is probably back- use it! The more you stretch and play the better for recovery and mood. It is interesting to get- off without a hard; but once you master the deed (easy)- it works, is fun and helps maintain sanity and a smile. . .

Penile rehab is probably best as a team sport. Involve your spouse, partner or a friend and throw inhibitions aside. This takes time and there will be plateaus, fits and starts and even disappointing events. Keep at it and take care of your self otherwise- it’s important. Most guys have black days and that is OK. If, however, the darkness lingers talk with your doc and get some assistance. Those of us who have traveled this valley understand the fundamental change that has occurred. You will reach a new normal and sex is great after this surgery. Many of us find the climax can well be more intense (OH YEAH) and last longer!! That is a good thing and I have found both to be true for me- a nice component for new normal.

Dave from Michigan here. Not a cancer guy, but had an implant on St. Paddy's day. Loving it! Just wanted to welcome you, as several have already. You will soon feel at home here, a very accepting bunch who support each other to the max. We also tend to have a lot of fun in the chat room. A little bawdy, but we're talking about our dicks here! What do you expect?
