Getting Nervous

Hi everybody. I am reaching the end of my decision making process. I have decided to go through with the surgery. However, it won't be for a few months. Since it will FINALLY will be a reality I am getting very nervous. Anyone's experiences is greatly appreciated

My wife and I know that I/we made the right decision when I got an implant. Good doctor who was well experienced and who had/has a great reputation. Good luck to you, brother!

As my sister in law once said: "if you are not nervous before surgery, you are stupid." I too had a couple of month wait between decision and surgery. My surgery and recovery went without a hitch. Make sure you are following all the pre op protocols, do your kegel exercises and say a prayer. I'm predicting that in three months you'll be scratching your head and wondering why you were worrying.

Once I made the decision, I was not nervous until I was in the same day surgery waiting room at the University of Maryland. Then I thought: "Holy shit, what I am doing here? Am I really going to let some guy slice and dice my penis?" I had the urge to flee, but then my name was called. I stayed and am very happy that I did.

I was not especially anxious or nervous beforehand, but when I arrived at the U of MD Medical Center at my assigned time of 11 AM for surgery scheduled at 1 PM I learned that Dr Kramer had been called to assist in a complicated bladder cancer surgery, and I had to wait until 4:30 PM for my turn. Those were 5 1/2 looong hours. But all went well - the surgery was quick and successful and the recovery uneventful.

This a great post, I would have said the same. His sister in law is correct, we all are nervous before surgery as we are going in a direction that has no return. That said it was a great decision for me. I had about four months before the insurance finally approved me. Then it was a few weeks until I could schedule the operation.

Suggest you do your kegels, they were real helpful while I had the catheter in. I would also do the VED Protocol Therapy: I got a tube, pump with a gauge on it, from Amazon. Now that I am almost ten months living with my IPP, wish I could have done it long ago.

As long as you have a good doctor everything should go fine. I guess I am a bit weird. I always worry more about infections and the recovery than I do the actual surgery itself. My recovery was a bit rougher than what a of people have (a lot of bruising and swelling).

However, it has been worth it. As far as I am concerned the end result couldn't have gotten any better.
I have bee able to recover 100% of my Pre-ED size. The final result is that I can again get as hard or harder than when I was 18.

I agree with "roninhouston" 100%. Start pumping everyday with a VED. You will be glad you did.
The reason a lot of guys never recover their Pre-ED size is because they were not using a VED on a daily basis. As a result, there is a lack of blood flow to the penis and atrophy occurs. Anything loss in the penis because of atrophy can never be recovered. The reason (during the good old days) that we all had erections while we slept was the bodies way of doing maintenance work on the penis.

Bottom line: If I had it to do over I would without any hesitation.

I had a radical prostatectomy in 2000, before the introduction of "penile rehab" (which you reference above). During the two years in between getting this surgery and having an implant inserted I definitely had atrophy happen to my never-rehabbed penis, and I lost an inch. I have been in several prostate cancer support groups through the years, and all of us who had a prostatectomy before the introduction of "penile rehab" report having lost an inch -- and I was the only guy with an implant, so I am sure it was because of post-surgical atrophy years ago and not as a result of my implant.



Of course my penis was 13" originally, so I really don't miss that inch.
