I take 20 mg Cialis or 100mg Viagra. Recently, I have begun partially losing my erection after a few minutes, which isn't great for my wife & ends we neither of us reaching climax. I have an appt with my uro in 2 wks to reraise the injection option. Any suggestions or questions I should address w my uro?
Thanks in advance.

See my posts dated Aug 24 and Sept 25, 2015 for my journey through the minefield of ED.
If max doses of Cialis and Viagra are not working, you are probably a candidate for “combination therapy” which can include anything from VED, 5mg daily cialis, and 100mg of viagra or 20mg of cialis before sex. That works for some guys. Stendra is another drug that is newer than either C or V; however thy all work basically the same way. I was implanted on Jan 6. Before that I was using VED with constricting rings, injection therapy and 5mg daily cialis. All delivered inconsistent and frustrating results. Finally bit the bullet and went for the implant. Early results are encouraging, but it is still too soon to tell.
As far as questions for your Uro, I’d be very candid about your experience, what’s working and what’s not and ask his advice. Tell him/her you want a better sex life.
You probably want to make sure you are using a true ED specialist, not a guy who just doles out pills. Many Docs will not prescribe multiple ED drugs. My drug plan would not fill scripts for C and V in close succession. There are therapies for you to try, don’t take no for an answer. If your doc is not familiar with combination therapies, I’d get another doc. A word of advice, don’t wait too long for results. If something is not working get an appointment and get him to prescribe something else. The good guys in that business are very busy and it can take months to get an appointment even for established patients. I can’t believe I’ve been fooling with this stuff since my prostate surgery in July 2013.
Good Luck

The same thing started me on injections. As sometimes happens, my doc suggested implant right off the bat. Tell him/her that you want to wait and see first.

Mine too. Hey, they'd rather do a $15,000(?) surgery, that a faceless third party pays for, than hand out scripts.
RP in 2012 because of prostate cancer. 100% ED, also some leakage problems.

Depends on the doctor. If he is also an implant surgeon he may very well suggest an implant right away. As someone else mentioned, the surgeries are a good source of income for the doctor. A urologist who does not do implant surgery might suggest stepping up to injections first.
Injections are a natural next step if pills aren't working. Might not hurt to try them for a few months and then decide if you still want the implant. That's the course I'm taking -- injections now and possibly an implant down the road. So far I have been on injections for more than a year and happy with them, although I often yearn for the convenience of an implant.
Good luck in whatever you decide.

I've tried everything -- pills, injections pumps -- and now I am at the final frontier.

If you get an erection that starts out adequate for coitus, you might consider a constriction device that would stop the outflow from the erectile tissue. Put it on while the erection is still hard and keep it on until done. Not entirely satisfactory, but the least expensive, least invasive option. No drugs, no drug side effects, low cost and highly portable. It is a bit inconvenient, but worth a try. The most common is a specially made rubber band with handles for removing when finished. But I saw a metal device (sorry don't have the link but it was posted in a thread on FrankTalk a few seeks ago).
The PDE5 inhibitors (Viagra, Cialis, Tadalafil/Levitra have begun to lose their effectiveness, but there are other pharmaceutical tools in the kit. Adrenaline (overproduction or oversensitivity) can inhibit erections, as I understand it. Worth a discussion, I opine.
Injections, suppositories and (I think) topical creams are available as less invasive solutions.
All the above are pretty much not permanent/reversible. Once you have an operation for implant, you are committed and there is no going back. An implant nearly 100% destroys any and all organic erectile function forever. It is step not to be taken lightly. However, it does seem to be the cat's meow when it works, and it works 80% to 98% of the time, depending on how you measure satisfaction. Service life on implants runs from 10 years to nearly 20 years and keeps getting better over time as the manufacturers improve the devices.
Good Luck.

PS One other thing often overlooked. Lifestyle and dietary changes can sometimes work miracles. A mineral deficiency can devastate your performance, so vitamins, minerals and balance are the first thing to check out. This can lead to other benefits, too, like longer life, etc.

Hi Joe you have forgot one thing, not all guys are happy with implants, there are guys on who are not happy and one poor guy had done only to see his wife go off sex, so you can see he is really happy.
Sorry its not a one size fits all, if you under stand that.
