I was implanted with an AMS LGX about five years ago. Recently, whenever I inflate, I notice a bulge at the base of the left cylinder (where it exits my groin). The more I pump the larger the bulge gets (but there is no pain). The implant seems to be working okay otherwise.
I did a Google search and came across something called "cylinder aneurysm" (kind of a weak point that develops in the wall of the cylinder, causing it to bulge when inflated). I can live with the bulge as it is now but my concern is that it is going to blowout and need to be replaced. After all, all things mechanical eventually break/malfunction....
Has anyone else had a similar problem?
Also, I seem to recall there being a lifetime guarantee on the device itself. Does anyone know?

wolfcreek,
You should go see your URO ... most likely it will need to be replaced. Get it done now while it doesn't hurt ...

Not easy to see the surgeon as he is in the USA and I am working in Asia.... Just wondering what other folks have experienced with similar cylinder problems. And if the device really does have a lifetime guarantee?
Re: implant cylinder blowout
I looked for the AMS web site (to check on the guarantee) but it appears they are no longer in business.

Hopefully my situation won't deteriorate to something like the ones shown on Google Images anytime soon

Re: implant cylinder blowout
its common enough that it looks like kramer has about 10 or more of these in his video library- looks like he and probably others can fix it. Go to one of the high volume superstars and get it fixed is my recommendation.
Re: implant cylinder blowout
There is a lifetime guarantee for the device. If you pay out of pocket for a revision, you will pay the cost of the procedure itself, not the implant. The device itself is over 8k. You are most likely due for a revision. I also agree with what was posted earlier... get it done now before it gets worse.

AMS was purchased by Boston Scientific, but are still very much in business.

I'm wondering if Boston Scientific is going to honor the AMS warranty??

Most of the time, when a company is acquired, the warranties and liabilities go along with the assets, absent a bankruptcy or other legal barrier. I would be confident the AMS warranties to be fully honored.
