lawsuits against device manufacturers??
Anyone aware of any breach of warranty lawsuits against implant device manufacturers (LGX or Coloplast)? I was told mine would last ten years but it malfunctioned in just over four years.
Re: lawsuits against device manufacturers??
I wonder that too. Mine last about two years. Dec. 16, 2014. I am pissed.

Wolf, good question... I am amazed at how basic these devices are... I don't believe the mechanics or life expectancy have changed much from the 1970s.

I recall reading or being told that the AMS LGX device itself is guaranteed for life, and that it should last at least 10 years. But I am not able to find this info anywhere now. Did I dream that or is that what everybody else recalls?
Re: lawsuits against device manufacturers??
Even if the device itself is replaced for free I still will need to come up with $15,000 USD or more to fly back to the USA and have it replaced. I sure was expecting it to last longer than 4 1/2 years

Wolf, wouldn't Thailand, Israel or Mexico be cheaper than United States?

Re: lawsuits against device manufacturers??
2 times I was on the phone with AMS/Boston about my implant issues and both times asked for a copy of the warranty or where I could view it. Both times the rep refused to discuss the warranty saying they did not have that information nor could they tell me where to get it. On line forums state that it covers defects in the implant but does not cover surgery. Improper installation needing replacement would not be a defect in product.
LGX 21cm .Milam 01/13/16. Horror; both service and surgical outcome. hated infrapubic installation. Kramer revision 03/01/17. 22cm Titan +1.5cm extender. Those who think their opinion is the only one that matters are a danger to themselves and others.

My first Titan was "misinstalled"...... I've had SO MUCH Fun with my second one, I'd absolutely try for a third if this one failed....

Re: lawsuits against device manufacturers??
Mine wasn't mis-installed as far as I know. It simply developed a marble sized bulge in the left cylinder after 4.5 years of moderate usage. It is the AMS LGX, so I will get a Coloplast next time (assuming I can scrape enough money together for another surgery). From what I've read the Coloplast is has thicker walls and is more durable.
