Pump stopped working

Postby ShopMan » Sun Dec 04, 2016 7:40 pm

To say I am upset would be an understatement. My wife is even more unhappy. I was implanted Dec. 16, 2014 with an AMS LGX. Up until about a month ago I have been very happy with my results. A couple of weeks ago when I tried to pump myself up I did not get the "click" that I normally would. After trying two or three times it finally popped and I was good to go. It on would fail every other time or two until a week ago when It failed and I have not been able to pump up since.

Any suggestions? I am calling my URO's office in the morning to get an appointment ASAP. If I need a replacement of partial replacement so be it. Is there per chance any warrenty on the pump itself or any of the parts?

Any advice would be great.

The first pump should be firm and sharp. If it doesn't work, press the release button, let go and then try again. Try this over and over.

I have kind of tried this but so far not happening. But, while I am waiting to see my uro I have nothing to loose so I will keep trying.

Sorry you are having troubles. Sometimes mine would do that. I wait a minute for the bulb to refill ( it fills real slow when it acts up) or press the release valve as hard as I can and it will refill, then pop and pump. Contrary animals these things. Best of luck to you. Glad at 75 you two are still getting with it. Cheers.

Hello Shopman, our implants almost have the same birthday Dec 15th 2014. My LGX pump does the same thing sometimes.Like Alibaba said, it takes awhile for the pump to fill up. Sometimes when I pump, it just goes flat. I wait a few minutes and it resets itself. I don't know why, it could be the cylinders wasn't completely empty from the last time it was filled. Other than that little issue I am happy with mine. Let us know what the URO says.

Alibaba, Thanks for the compliment. Actually, that profile is kind of old. I am actually 79 now and she just turned 78. Not only that I have been married for almost 60 years and to the same beautiful lady I married 2 years out of high school.
Can anyone beat that?
So far I am still not having any luck with the pump.

Hello Shopman

What exactly happens (or doesn't happen, more to the point) when you try to inflate? Does the pump bulb just stay hard or just collapse and stay flat or?

Anyway, the following is from the AMS 700 surgical manual trouble shooting section for surgeons.

Pump
Problem What to Do
Pump bulb
dimpled
or collapsed
• Squeeze the deflation button to refill the pump bulb. Move fingers away from the
deflation button. Reactivate with a firm pump bulb squeeze. Inflate normally.

• If this does not resolve the problem, squeeze the sides of the deflation block to refill the
pump bulb.
Then, squeeze the deflation button for 2-4 seconds to reset the lock-out
mechanism prior to attempting inflation. Reactivate with a firm pump bulb squeeze.
Inflate normally.

• Do not squeeze the deflation button and the pump bulb at the same time.

I highlighted the part that doesn't seem to be commonly known. Who knows, maybe it will work for you. I also have the LGX (for about 18 months) and sometimes if it seems a bit hard to pump I try pumping standing up, while pulling down on the pump. This seems to unbunch the tubes etc and pumping becomes much easier.

Good luck with it.

Both implant companies put a lifetime warranty on their implants. I would assume that applies to ALL parts, cylinders, reservoir, deflate valve, tubing, and pump.

Thanks for your reply. When I squeeze the bulb it usually feels rather hard but not anymore so then when I normally squeeze it. As I squeeze it the bulb seems to collapse normally but sometimes the next squeeze goes a tad flat. Probably because I have squeezed to quickly after the first squeeze.
When I do the above I can see my penis raise but then it will go right back to flaccid again. I will try the above later and let you know what, if anything, happens. Thanks for this valuable information. What would we do without FL.

BTW, someone in a previous reply asked me to let them know when I would be seeing my URO. (I think that was the question)
I just got an appointment with a new urologist. My old one retired last May and I have not needed to see one until this problem came along. He is the senior member of the group of 6 Doctors and when I told the receptionist I wanted to see the most experienced Dr. in the group for implants. She would not or probably could not tell me but when I told her who I wanted to see her reply was "excellent choice". I am excited.
If the above DOES happen to work I am going to keep the appointment anyway.
Thanks again my bionic friends.

For Whatsup,
I tried the above. Well, I tried to try it. I assume that you mean by sides the one where the deactivation button is located and it's opposite side. If this is true about the only way to do that is using both my thumbs with my fingers on the opposite side. I tried that. For starts, that really smarts. :o
The other side is where the pump bulb is located on the one side and tubes are on the opposite side.
You surely can't mean the ends. Going that route the thing is like squeezing a brick.
So, unless I am wrong here, I guess I just wait till my appointment next week.
Thanks for your help anyway.
