Movingon, thank you very much for your perspective. I am 43 and my wife and I are just beginning the journey you and your husband started years ago. I note that you seem to feel that the last 20 years were depressing. What can I do to cut past the depressing time as much as possible? I do not need an implant yet -- but the pills will eventually fail, and I do not want to spend any more time by wasting it on being unsatisfied, anxious, and depressed than I have to.
It is the period of time leading up to the implant that scares me.

Genetically sky-high Lp(a) of 390 led to various heart diseases. Ultra-low testosterone of 120 (now 480 with Clomid) also contributed to ED at age 41. Managing with daily Cialis, but for me, the implant is a "when", not an "if".

Hi, the logical thing to me is to follow the normal progression of things. Use the pills as long as they are effective. Then when that stops working go to the injections like my local Urologist suggested for me. He told me that injections were more effective and would be his treatment of choice when his time comes. The injections did work for a couple years for me. I've heard from others who have gone 10 years successfully on injections.
When that stops working, the implant is the only thing left to do. Whatever, don't suffer without some form of help for long. Enjoy life!

I did injections for a short period only. Then I developed hour glass dents, fibrosis left and right, the penis started bending to the left. My urologist said, that injections might be extremely dangerous. Unfortunately she didn't tell me that before I started with injections...

Geez, I'm sorry to hear that. I developed Peyronies during the period when I injected, but my Urologist swears they were not the cause of the curvature. He said it was caused by damage to the penis resulting in scar tissue. My curve wasn't at the injection location so he surmised that I didn't gain scar tissue from the needle and injections. Perhaps he was right, but it still seems awfully coincidental to me.

Some doctors don't tell the truth or just don't have a good knowledge. But I have heard it from different surgeons, you can also find infos on the internet. Before colon cancer operation my dick was a real beauty. 17,5 cm long, thick and straight. Quite some women said 'wow, such a nice dick one seldom finds". I'm not bragging, that's history anyway.
Two years after the operation I started injections, but only for a couple of months, maybe three. Then the problems began. It got worse and worse but it still took me some years to know that I got to get an implant. In the meantime I did daily 'training' with an VED. That helped a lot when it comes to keeping the size and I also could have sex. The girlfriend didn't mind the pump but I disliked it. Since over a year I have the implant and I love it dearly. Should have gotten it earlier, that's for sure.

Yes, I don't think my local Urologist would lie. He is a kind, caring doctor. But he may be misinformed.
I wouldn't want to use a VED. It absolutely doesn't appeal to me.

Yes, ED is depressing and it’s heartbreaking. For me, it took a joyful, precious part of our marriage and turned it into a source of sorrow and anxiety. I was always so hopeful that the next thing we tried would be the thing that would be our permanent fix. Eventually, there wasn’t anything left to try.
Time is short and it’s precious; we don’t know what the future holds for us. We wasted time on fixes that had quit working. In our experience, and in most of the stories I’ve read on FrankTalk, ED never gets better. It only gets worse. It took my husband two or three years to get to the point where he was ready for the implant and I’m sorry to say that sometimes I was angry about that wasted time but he had to be ready to take that step. We can’t get that time back, but that’s the past and we’re moving on. I would tell you to not waste time, have the next step figured out and move on to it as soon as the current “fix” quits working. Make your plan of action with your wife and always let her know where you are in the plan, she is as affected by your ED as you are.
The implant is the last fix, the one that you do after everything else has failed. It was so scary to think about doing, but tomorrow will be two weeks since my husband had his surgery and his recovery has been very easy and practically pain free. I feel like such a weight has been lifted from us, we are already more playful with each other than we have been in a long time. I’m so excited about what the future holds for us!

Come back 1023km! I personally am sorry for my skepticism. I guess it just seemed like your response was too good to be true. But it really did make my day.
